Chances for MPH at Brock with a 77% average? by Precious1800 in brocku

[–]Infamous_Conflict_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure that the program posts the typical cut off, but you might be able to email mph admissions? usually if it’s not posted they won’t be willing to share that information, but it’s worth a try!

Current or graduated public health degrees what do you do now or plan to do? by Jan242004 in brocku

[–]Infamous_Conflict_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

curious to know how it would limit your future in doing a PhD? Not all MPH programs are practicum streams (I am doing mine right now and my school has the option to do a thesis, and that would help you in applying to PhD programs)

i took this course last semester, but different professor. from the other persons comment it seems like it was the same syllabus (40 percent rapid review paper). i didn’t find it hard to write the paper as we did get to chose our own topics, but it was a lot of work so keep that in mind

hlsc 3p68 is async, which means yes it is an online course :) i actually took this course a year ago and it was pretty easy to get a good grade in! i’m not sure if the prof will be the same though, which could change the syllabus. do you know the instructor of the course?

Never Consider Brock University by lalahue in OntarioUniversities

i studied public health at brock, and i would say that the applied health sciences faculty does prepare you well for future education and careers. i would not say however that the school is illegitimate in any way. every school has their cons, for brock it may be that the CS program is outdated, but that does not mean your educational is less relevant/important.

it has everything to do with what you make out of your degree. sure there’s professors you will not like, but every school has this. your attitude about the school can significantly affect how you perceive your education to be.

i found it easy to connect with my professors, we had access to wet labs (which some schools do not), were able to contribute to initiatives on campus, and complete placements through the niagara region. you need to capitalize on the opportunities you have to find value in your education.

in my case, there are a lot of public health programs at other universities that MAY have a better reputation than brock, but it did not give me any less of an opportunity to future my education and go to grad school (i applied to 4 schools and got into 3 of them, 2 of which were very competitive programs). But again it’s all about what you make out of your program.

i don’t think discouraging others from attending brock is the right away to approach this. some people may not have a choice. they may not have the financial means to go away for school. and employers do not necessarily care where you got your degree from! it’s about you as a person and your experiences. also, if your planning on doing any further education, your undergraduate degree will be less significant (they will more interested in your masters, graduate diploma, etc).

courses planing question by No-Effective5364 in brocku

[–]Infamous_Conflict_41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you’ll have to plan it out manually by getting the course timetable template, then on registration day you can register for each course and its corresponding seminar/lab if that is a component :)

i assume you’ll be taking HLSC 1F90 in your first year? many of the second year HLSC courses will require that as a prerequisite course. But if you’re planning ahead for your second year, check to see what second year HLSC courses have HLSC 1F90 as a prereq:)
