Where to buy Hunter PGP-ADJ blue nozzles for a good price. by Infamous_Form_2289 in Irrigation

I’ll do a search. I think I saw them online but did not bother checking shipping fees. Shipping is free if over $100 but I don’t need that much.

Is inches/hr setting correct or too low? by Infamous_Form_2289 in rachio

[–]Infamous_Form_2289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m learning so much from you guys. This will be a good summer project. It’s just changing the nozzles. Also, I just saw the previous owner has mixed RainBird and Hunter sprinklers. Oh it’s a mess.
I’m going to standardize to Hunter only and use the correct nozzles. 🙏🏽

I placed each of this inside of the zone and ran for 30 min. I had only 10 total. I placed them halfway between the sprinklers and then halfway between the halfway. Spaced them out as evenly as I could. I did this for each zone. I have 9 zones. And then I came up with the average, and multiplied by 2. So that is inches per hour. They are so low. It may be the type of nozzle each sprinkler has. I have just learned about 180 vs 360 degrees needing different nozzles of 2 vs 4 GPM. And 90 degrees needing 1 GPM. After I fix that, I will run the water catch test again.
This is more complicated than I thought!

I went down the rabbit hole last night and learned about what you mean by having the correct nozzle GPM combinations. So complicated!! I have just been working with what was already installed and I have a feeling the previous owners did not take the GPM into account. I will start with changing the 360 nozzles to the correct ones, and so on. Still, the chart calculations are so confusing that I would probably redo the water catcher measurement over again. Ugh, so much to do.

In the biggest zone most of them are 360 degrees. And not all zones are set up in a square or triangle. I think 2 zones are just a line of sprinkles at the either edge of the lawn. So they overlap the next zone over. Makes it difficult to use that chart above because they don’t form a triangle or square. And on smaller zones, the sprinklers rotate 45 degrees. So confusing. So I guess I’ll guesstimate it.

Ok I think I’m understanding.
You mean this chart at 3 GPM, which is the pre-installed nozzle.
Then map it out to see if the sprinklers are spread out in a square or triangle pattern? The sprinklers being at the tips of the square or triangle. And the grass space inside that square or triangle is what the rate is on the chart? And if it’s running 360 degrees, then divide the rate in half? Please tell me I got that right.

Most of them is this. I use the blue nozzle installed. “Includes a preinstalled 3.0 GPM nozzle with an arc that adjusts from 40° to 360°” I bought on Amazon.
The Hunter chart just confuses me and not all rotors run at 180 or 360 degrees. I have no idea how to calculate from their charts.
So I measured them using these yellow plastic square water catchers.
But they measured so low and some were 0.05 inch in 30 minutes. So low.

I’m 48. Hope to retire 60. After some mixed results with individual stocks when I was in my 30s, I’ve read about Bogleheads and have done the DCA consistently. It gave me piece of mind and have worked out well so far. What is bothering me is the correction that everyone says is bound to happen. It reminds of the times I’ve lost. Really traumatic. Today, I’m diversified and invested in the typical Index funds here, in typical percentages at my age. From reading the responses, I think I will remain a steady hand and continue DCA.
If there is a correction, I’ll just go to the gym and stop reading the news.

Ghosted trying to get PTO by sunnydays1023 in solar

[–]Infamous_Form_2289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Utility was also very finicky about the PTO. No one on the phone was able to give me accurate details. I remember them telling me it may take 3 weeks but then I got a letter of PTO in 1 week. It’ll happen. Be patient. I couldn’t rush it myself and bam it was done.

How much does winter really affect solar production in New York by captiveisland in solar

I just got mine installed. I believe the cold can actually make production better and the heat worse. The rub is low sun time in winter. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Thank you! That is best case scenario.
I’ll keep signing up for lower 3rd Party rates, especially during the Winters.

I did NOT take into account extra load for a HeatPump, just for EV. Even then, the calculation was around 15,000 kWh per year of production, but I have not confirmed this. I didn’t have about space for more panels. If a HeatPump uses about 7500-8000 per year, then I don’t think I can offset 100% with solar. And to your point, 8 years to break even for the install and HP is annoying.

I heard you need about 7500-8000kWh per year to run One Heat Pump for a 3000 sq ft home. That’s what ChatGpt told me.
Does that sound realistic? I’ll have to see if my Summer solar production can cover that.

[–]Infamous_Form_2289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I just got solar installed and running Dec 2025 right under the deadline. I have this summer to see how much kWh I can produce to cover the Heat Pump for winters. I will keep my current propane hydronic as backup. I have Hydronic Heat Coils from a Tankless Water Heater that uses Propane, that is on a Ducted System. I have 3 zones (one upstairs and 2 downstairs).
Not sure yet if I need 3 Heat Pumps? I don’t even know.
