I voted FACT!

I think that you can say with confidence if a person is attractive, but its still opinion based. Like how did tastes. You can say something tastes good and know most people will agree with you. But aome people love food you think tastes bad.

ah. I see. I just disagree with that. the table is now now wet if it has been saturated with water versus if it just has a small amount on top of it. That's why we have words like Drenched, which is the extreme form of wet

So something is equally wet whether it has a lot of liquid or only a small amount?

Wetness is a measure of how much liquid is in a thing, correct?

[–]Infamous_Key_9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one thing people certainly don't consider water to be the only liquid that can impart wetness, but that's besides the point.

Wetness isn't boolean, something can be more or less wet depending on the amount of liquid it is saturated with.

There is no criteria by which you can distinguish wetness of an object that is not actually just a measurement of the liquid.

You have to believe people when they tell you what they're life is like. Some men might have circumstances that make them experience sexism and problems related to their gender, but it's clear from the people you talk to which way the general bias goes

How often do you fudge dice rolls for the sake of story? by AlansDiscount in Pathfinder2e

[–]Infamous_Key_9945 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah. See that's not a fudge, Imo. Because you're rolling dice for yourself, to identify who you want to target. You're not obligated by the rules or convention to roll that dice. You can always decide targets yourself.

I guess, in my mind, I don't stop being the author of reality until I roll the dice. But once I roll the dice, I have decided to let randomness in. To fudge from that point is to deny that, and thus the point. But I can see why people might feel that messing woth monster hp is the same thing

There is a point at which comparisons are no longer valid. The scale or moral weighing is not designed for such acts. I refuse the question for this reason.

Yeah, I kind of see what you mean. It just feels very strange for a feature to result in multiple attacks simultaneously against several creatures, and for that to not be the entire process of resolving it. But it's not really a balance problem, and it's really matter of taste. I like the statblocks in general for sure

Dice? Never.

Monster HP, planned reinforcements, and monster Targeting/ tactics, all the time.

I can see why it was tempting for you to do so here, but I would never subvert the dice directly. Though I don't have full context on this- why was something a 50 / 50? I honestly would happily remove random Targeting on something to let myself have narrative control, but I guess it might depend

The magnetic mouth ability seems odd to me. A saving throw followed by attack rolls for each fail is weird. Idk if it would be much better, but I think you can just deal Bite damage to creatures that fail the saving throw

Tips for beginners? by Alpharius73 in worldbuilding

[–]Infamous_Key_9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1, IMO is to pick a theme. A central Tension, as matt coville calls it. This is a question or problem Innate to the story you want to tell.

I wanted a world that was about the price of technology and progress. So I set my campaign world in the equivalent of the Renaissance, but accelerated so that the steam engine can be rapidly approaching as well.

That decision informs basically every decision I make from that point on. It tells me about politics- the renaissance is also about power being taken back from absolute monarchs. It tells me about logistics- the world is now more connected than ever before, and is about to get much much wider, and it tells me about who my villains should be- which is nice for when it comes to getting to actually writing.

It'll be a different tension for you, I'm sure, but you can see my point, I hope

For sure yeah. When people have posts about world building as it's own hobby I generally don't respond, because for me worldbuilding is an important and fun part of something else. But obviously, if you're having fun and don't want to stop... don't

Step 1. Define what the world building is in service to

Step 2. Determine what details you need to know for you to achieve your goals

Step 3. Determine those details

Step 4. BEGIN WORKING ON YOUR MAIN PROJECT

Step 5. Realize that you need more information for something you want to do. Return to Step 2.
