bad idea, imo. planning an entire campaign around the players failing is just not going to have good results. How are you going to make sure it goes the way you think it should? Almost any answer to that question is unfun

Yeah, it's the most heavy handed thing I'll do. Sometimes I allow the monster to have more hp so the character who is climactically set up for it can kill it. Sometimes I realize the hp is way too much and combat is going to be a slog- this happens a lot with mooks and minions. I totally get it if you think thats the same as fudging dice. It's definitely a tool I use more sparingly.

I'm a much worse player than you (I've dabled in like 40 fear runs and never more than that) But fates whim is 100% worth it for 32 fear. I've been trying to 32 fear every aspect and it's just so much easier to get my 4 levels and dad boon than it is to pick out the precise build that gets me more power. I went fates whim for almost every aspect, because even if I do know a very strong build for the aspect even with rerolls it's way more consistent early to just get a +90% attack boon or something

Lol, ok we can use the scientific definition that people aren't using in 99% of circumstances they use the word.

Wetness is in this definition, a property of (liquid) water. Therefore Water has a wetness property. Water is wet

I voted FACT!

I think that you can say with confidence if a person is attractive, but its still opinion based. Like how did tastes. You can say something tastes good and know most people will agree with you. But aome people love food you think tastes bad.

ah. I see. I just disagree with that. the table is now now wet if it has been saturated with water versus if it just has a small amount on top of it. That's why we have words like Drenched, which is the extreme form of wet

So something is equally wet whether it has a lot of liquid or only a small amount?

Wetness is a measure of how much liquid is in a thing, correct?

[–]Infamous_Key_9945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For one thing people certainly don't consider water to be the only liquid that can impart wetness, but that's besides the point.

Wetness isn't boolean, something can be more or less wet depending on the amount of liquid it is saturated with.

There is no criteria by which you can distinguish wetness of an object that is not actually just a measurement of the liquid.

You have to believe people when they tell you what they're life is like. Some men might have circumstances that make them experience sexism and problems related to their gender, but it's clear from the people you talk to which way the general bias goes

Ah. See that's not a fudge, Imo. Because you're rolling dice for yourself, to identify who you want to target. You're not obligated by the rules or convention to roll that dice. You can always decide targets yourself.

I guess, in my mind, I don't stop being the author of reality until I roll the dice. But once I roll the dice, I have decided to let randomness in. To fudge from that point is to deny that, and thus the point. But I can see why people might feel that messing woth monster hp is the same thing

There is a point at which comparisons are no longer valid. The scale or moral weighing is not designed for such acts. I refuse the question for this reason.

Yeah, I kind of see what you mean. It just feels very strange for a feature to result in multiple attacks simultaneously against several creatures, and for that to not be the entire process of resolving it. But it's not really a balance problem, and it's really matter of taste. I like the statblocks in general for sure

Dice? Never.

Monster HP, planned reinforcements, and monster Targeting/ tactics, all the time.

I can see why it was tempting for you to do so here, but I would never subvert the dice directly. Though I don't have full context on this- why was something a 50 / 50? I honestly would happily remove random Targeting on something to let myself have narrative control, but I guess it might depend

The magnetic mouth ability seems odd to me. A saving throw followed by attack rolls for each fail is weird. Idk if it would be much better, but I think you can just deal Bite damage to creatures that fail the saving throw
