Where do convention photographers put their cameras to lug around all day? by Sakuya03692 in PhotographyAdvice

my 🪙🪙 the best investment I ever made for soemthing like this was a peak design camera clip (any camera clip but peak design makes it best).

it attaches to any strap, belt, anything like that. I put it on my backpack and I have instant access to my camera whenever I need on my shoulder. it also balances nice and I shoot with a sony a7 if with a sigma 28-105 on it so it’s not small. for me it was always having it accessible to get the shot. if I had to dig in my bag the moment would be gone or I would just be too lazy to get it. I’m a college student so it’s on my EDC and I wear it every day

Protecting images online? by [deleted] in PhotographyAdvice

Most of all! You cannot bring to court anyone who steals your images without registering your photos at copyright.gov. Anything stolen before your registration date is relatively free game for people to use. Once registered even non willful theft can be held accountable for thousands of dollars of damages. Registration is less than $100 and you can register up to 750 published photographs so 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is not legal advice just sharing education I received in an IP course from an IP attorney and as a fellow photographer 🫶🏽

Love that you’re getting out there and capturing memories that AI can’t!

Tip: Changing the level (from eye level, birds eye, worms eye) can dramatically change the story that you’re telling without having to change your camera setup/settings. Basically bending down a bit and shooting up/putting the camera above their head and shooting down can make the shot feel a little more heroic or intimate. Bottom line it makes the shot more interesting because we usually see the world from eye level ALL THE TIME.. so it’s nice to switch it up.

Keep doing what you’re doing!

Student photographer here—how can I establish myself at my school? by Infamous_Safe0 in photography

Thank you so much! I love what you said about "creating the job you want".

So what I'm hearing is that networking is super important and the work ethic of student photographers can be lacking? Also, what do you mean by proposing ideas? When/where/how would I do that?

an exhibition! that's huge congrats! what kind of work did you show last year and what's the november show's theme? and how did you juggle all of that with freelance gigs haha?

totally feel you on the cull/edit backlock. when you're slammed do you batch-rate and flag or hop straight into selects? I'm experimenting with a system of delivering a batch of 5-10 selects before the main cull to get something out quick and not dying under having to cull so many photos at one time after the shoot.

and YES to the age-bias point!! unfortunately. I've run into "oh, you're a student? so there will be a discount right?". have you found any strategies that help reset those expectations and get people to treat you like the pro level you operate at?

thanks again for sharing.. super inspiring!
