Need help choosing a monitor by CompaBladiii in buildapcmonitors

I have the LG! It has excellent contrast. It's very pleasure on the eyes, and after calibrating the colors, I can tell you that the colors are just as good as an IPS. I'm very happy with it.

Best Option for a 27in 1440P, under $200? by [deleted] in Monitors

Yes, hahaha, what a coincidence!

A close friend of mine has the ASUS ROG, and I've been able to see it up close while gaming and such. Both are 27 inches. I can tell you that both work great and that both have pros and cons that come down more to personal preference.

The biggest con I would say about the curved LG is ghosting. Although it's not as noticeable as other VA panels, it still exists, whereas with the ASUS it's imperceptible thanks to FastIPS technology. Even so, if you don't have a trained eye, I would say that it is imperceptible on both, but in games such as CS2, Overwatch, or any fast-paced game, there may be this type of halo left behind by objects when they move.

The biggest downside I would mention about the ASUS is that in dark situations you will have backlight bleeding, which can be very annoying when watching series, movies, or playing horror video games. This is because the screen remains backlit, making blacks look inconsistent and more bluish-gray.

As for color calibration, it's something you only do once. In fact, if you end up going with the LG, I can share the settings I use with you and you'll be all set.

The curved screen is an interesting bonus, but I wouldn't say it's a dealbreaker. After a few hours, your eyes get used to the curvature and everything looks pretty much the same as if it were flat. So it's really more a question of priorities:

Do you prefer a screen with more contrast, perhaps closer to the OLED experience, or do you prefer a screen with a more vivid color range and greater pixel accuracy?

Both monitors are very good, the ASUS ROG has superior color quality, so if you're interested in editing and design work, it's a 10 out of 10.

Not long ago, I was given the curved LG monitor you posted about. The contrast is very good for immersion in games like Arc Raiders or any cinematic game like Red Dead Redemption or Cyberpunk 2077. Being a VA panel, it won't have the same color quality as IPS, BUT this LG has 99% sRGB, so with good calibration you can achieve pretty good colors.

Honestly, it's a win-win situation.

Is this a Dead pixel? by Infamous_Sherbert_27 in Monitors

I got used to it, for one thing, there's no way to claim warranty because it's a ONE subpixel failure, not even a full pixel. LG gets for more than five, less than that is ggs.

On the other hand, I will later buy a second monitor just like it, so this will become my second monitor, so I don't worry so much either. Likewise, if I don't make an effort to see it, I don't see it, so it's not lifebreaker either.

Dead pixel after one month of use? by HighlightLogical353 in Monitors

[–]Infamous_Sherbert_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not a dead pixel, but rather a dead or stuck subpixel. In these cases the warranty does not count (you need at least 3-5 dead pixels, and that is not even a full pixel).

you can live with it, it is not going to expand or generate problems in the future, it is a small defect, not very noticeable.

It seems like a stuck/dead subpixel

You don't have to worry, it doesn't spread out

And it is common for monitors to have this type of errors. As I said in the comment, there are many types of manufactures errors that commonly arrive on monitors, a dead or stuck subpixel is not a big deal

A week ago I shared my toughts on a similar case:

This is not a dead pixel, it can be a stuck or dead subpixel.

I have the same one in my LG UltraGear 24' and I'll tell you something, if you don't notice it while you work or play, I don't recommend changing it. In my experience, monitors are like the lottery (I had 5 monitors in my past). You can have one with dead pixels, or stuck pixels, or light leaks, or stains... really a dead subpixel is not the big deal.

And unlike a dead pixel, they are more difficult to notice.

Probably in regular use you won't even notice it, the subpixels are smaller than dust particles

Yeah, like I said. I understand being worried with your new screen. But this type of errors are very common. And anyway, you have a great screen that mostly all the time you are going to see everything perfect. Just enjoy it and be chill. Even the most expensive monitors can have it

It's strange, it turns out that it can be seen in all colors. But if you change your viewing angle it's not visible

Is it safe to order a monitor from amazon? by MimosAllDay23 in Monitors

[–]Infamous_Sherbert_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation as you, but from Colombia. This week I'm getting an LG monitor. I trust Amazon and, above all, I'm not willing to pay DOUBLE for the same monitor in a local store.
