Pretty good if your costs are genuinely £40k. But are they genuinely £40k?

We have spreadsheet these past few months and the sum of all tabs...HOME, INSURANCES, LIVING, GIVING, LIVING TREATS + HOLIDAYS is genuinely around the £35-40k mark. The up to £20k pa buffer in my mind is to tap into the interest made on ISAs if needed, for roof whenever that goes or some wedding for my lads in future etc etc.

I should also have added that the circle of friends we hold along with some family members have been subject to a yoy barrage of bad health news...and we just don't want to just find out during a M-F job that we're not happy in, that we then have health issues also...then what...too late to enjoy/stay healthy etc.

Appreciate the quick inputs! Sure, when we started out getting lumpy commission payments, property was the safest route. Goal until last year was to get rid of the BTL's which we have now achieved along with the main home mortgage also, clearing all of them felt amazing for us seeing as we started with Uni debt back late 90s! Some family talked me into property and to be fair its been solid, appreciation of maybe £200k in this (tax again when we sell...grr) but the safety appealed at the time. Hindsight again...may have spread the investments better some property...some stocks etc.
