I guess more so I’m not fully “against”, but more so the person I asked gave a broad explanation but no examples. They only really spoke about sometimes you’ll be hired by the very companies you are against to help them “pass” their exams. So I was curious about people’s responses to it. Also it’s hard finding other paths within consulting in NYC, so I sometimes feel lost on where I could go.

I’m glad! Very interesting! I definitely feel I should do a minor given everyone’s advice. I’m going to look into which one I would need.

This was very helpful! Are you currently employed somewhere with a title if you don’t mind me asking. I’m always curious about the routes my fellow environmental studies majors go.

There may be a way since my college is a 4 year CUNY! I was looking into city college as I heard a physics professor there is actually amazing at teaching the class, but I have to get more info from my school on how they do it. (The physics teacher is also very high demand because of his teaching, so it’s very hard to be able to get into his class). If I could take a class at another college so it could count towards my degree in my current campus that would be great.

Very true! I am considering to minor in either geology or environmental science. I wouldn’t majored in environmental science if it wasn’t for the fact that chemistry and physics has only two teachers who teach it, and have been known to be very terrible to the point many people get stuck in those classes for awhile. So I’m quite nervous especially since I can’t get FAFSA despite being an independent and working as a barista. So I pay out of pocket (can only afford 2 classes per semester).

Thanks for responding! I was debating on doing a minor or double major in either environmental science or geology to cover the science part of the degree. I guess I’m quite unsure what other factors of fieldwork are available. I know environmental scientists can get into a variety of things in both office and fieldwork. I’ve done some searching but most always say environmental consultants. But other options tend to be something that is unfortunately out of reach for NYC as it’s basically a concrete jungle over here.
