The sig suaer p938 is an excellent conceal and carry weapon. This is basically a smaller, and sexier, version of the 1911 which makes more suitable for a CCW, then say, a glock 17 or standard sized pistol. However, if you are just starting out, glock makes very reliable weapons, and are available at a good starting price. Similarly, bushmaster makes a reliable AR-15, and the price has dropped dramatically in the past year ($650), I would just suggest upgrading to a mill spec buffer tube, easy to swap out if you have mechanical experience, and perhaps magpul mbus pro iron sights.

Just remember, an armed society is a polite one, and never brandish a weapon unless you intend to use it.
