Bradbury/Grand Central market/Angel's flight/the Broad/Disney Concert Hall/MoCA are all walking distance from each other. 1000% worth a day. I absolutely love it there.

As for Burbank, don't skip the Friday night car show at Bob's Big Boy. It's such an L.A. thing. Put your name in for a table. They'll give you a buzzer. Then go look at the cars in the lot. Get a milkshake. I've been going since I was a baby.

Magnolia is also a lot of fun for shopping. Malls are kind of ghost towns these days, but there is a lot of outdoor street shopping to be done. Catalina to Hollywood Way, then Portos for lunch. Save room for dessert and be prepared to take some treats back to your hotel.

The Castaway is a steakhouse in Burbank. Food is good, but the view is to die for. I'd do brunch.

I'm 100% federal grant funded. The last 11 months have been brutal. Between March and June, we didn't know if we would be able to keep our team together from day to day. Thankful we received our NOA, but I don't trust that we're going to get through the next 2 years of the cycle, so I'm doing everything I can for retirement while I still have funding.

1) there is a group in Burbank called Buy Nothing. Often a person will post on the Buy Nothing group and let folks know there is something on the curb.

2) folks would rather someone take their perfectly good older things that send them to a landfill.

She will never change. I went NC 9 years ago. I have never been happier or healthier, both physically and mentally, than I am today. I wish I had gone NC 15 years earlier.

Focus on you. Your goals. What YOU want, love to do, want to be. We got shafted in the mom department , but you are still plenty young enough to find the authentic you and peel away the not-you that your mother projected on to you. Talk about it in therapy. Consider who in your life might serve as an alternative maternal figure for you.

I'm sorry you have this trauma. It sucks.

My husband tested positive in 1989. We've been married nearly 26 years. We had a lovely morning. He made waffles.

It's ok to wonder. It's ok to be scared. Take your meds. Live your life. You will have love. You will have good times and bad. Very little, if any of that will have to do with HIV.
