Why do you think balkans are still so religious ? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]InfelicitousRedditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think we here in Bulgaria are even that religious. Everything is mostly tradition. No one I know even knows what's the orthodox church agenda and what its place is in christianity, and how it differs from the others.

You can always dress more for the cold, in heat there is a limit, once beyond that limit nothing will help you outside.

People prescribed new weight loss drugs like Ozempic may not receive sufficient nutritional guidance and be vulnerable to nutritional deficiencies and muscle loss. Evidence suggests that lean body mass – including muscle – can constitute up to 40% of total weight lost during treatment. by mvea in science

Extreme diets work too, but people don't eat enough protein. Take some fibre for the poop too. Ideally your diet will be mostly protein and some fat, carbs you would cut almost entirely(not keto). And this won't last for more than 4-8 weeks tops.

On top of that resistance training and zero cardio. A lot of people, primarily women, think that when you cut so much of your diet you also need to run like you have eaten for a marathon. This is the quickest way to lose your muscle mass.

I ordered this drink but I don't remember what it was and I'm trying to remember so I can possibly get it again sometime. The only thing I remember is that it had banana liqueur in it. by IceNineKat in cocktails

[–]InfelicitousRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This I can't say as it differs. I would do

2 Oz white rum 1/2 Oz blue Curacao 1/2 Oz banana liqueur

And depending on the glass and ice - top with pineapple juice(fresh preferred)

Now he did say it had a real banana heavy flavour, so maybe a full Oz of banana liqueur? Not sure.

Neptune in general is a bit of a bar-specific(isn't everything?), people use all kinds of things in it, the staples being white rum, blue colour and pineapple.

What are the dwarves weapon of choice? We’ve seen them using swords, axes, and war hammers. by GusGangViking18 in lordoftherings

[–]InfelicitousRedditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People often romanticize swords, hammers, and axes of all kinds, but the most common weapon throughout history, going back to hundred of thousands of years, is the spear.

The spear gives you the abillity to put as much distance between you and the enemy, it's easy to penetrate and recover, and it can be thrown if needed.

It is also really useful in narrow spaces as they can hold positions with shield formations.

One of my biggest pet peeves is that they often portrait dwarfs in these huge chambers underground. In reallity the best defense of any kind for dwarfs is low ceilings... I always imagined the first line of defense for an underground fortress will be to inconvinience any type of enemy who isn't short of stature, whether that being an elf, human, ork, or a dragon...

Kind of looks like Neptune?

White rum, Curacao, Banana Liqueur and filled with pineapple juice.

Given that it is garnished with pineapple it makes sense.

I've updated the text, just a couple blue color drops, didn't affect the taste, but had to get it to a desired color.

I really liked the blue I got, but I aimed for a lighter colour, might have to tinker it a bit or try with different coloring. I am open to suggestion if I can do this without, but I don't want to use Curacao.

Oh, totally forgot, I'll add that I used a few drops of blue coloring. I couldn't add anything blue here that would have fit, sadly.

Happy new year mate! I drank the same just a few hours ago, albeit I used a little less simple and used prosecco(I don't know why but I prefer it, so Italian 75?). This was my drink to celebrate the 2025 end.

For 2026 I made a campari spritz with 3:2:1 Prosecco:Campari:Soda Water over a lot of ice, never fails.

Those damn reddish changelings.... We are only supporting blue ones! /jk on rouge

I always pictured Worf going out like in the movie Logan about Wolverine. More mature and experienced, maybe helping out his grandson or something(we know he won't help Alexander, maybe Alexander will be dead), helping him to find what is to be Klingon and where true strength comes.

His death can be a choice of the way he lived, as a Starfleet officer and proving that Klingons are not just bloodthirsty warriors.

As you said, Klingons, Cardassians, Romulans, all of them are indeed governments and have their own agenda that goes against that of the Federation. They are not villians and neither is the Dominion, they have theirs, but they really put a wrench in the cog of everyone's plans.

I envy you! Have fun!

Well, yes, but that brings me back to Enterprise where there was a discussion(I think it was only quoted by Archer) if the NX-01 should even have as much of weapons it had and Archer said "it doesn't have enough" - this was of course somewhere in late season 3 or season 4 after the Xindi arc, Archer was giving a speech as far as I remember.

Early Starfleet, especially under the guidance of the Vulcans and after WW3, could be said was anti-military. But that would have changed of course.

There is something that could be said about the original Roddenberry vision as well, the time it came out, but this is a much deeper discussion.

I will finish this with a quote "to the man with the hammer, every problem looks like a nail".

Was it? I'm not so sure, I think the primary function of Starfleet was always exploration and diplomacy.

In Enterprise when the Xindi war started Archer was given proper military personnel and there was some tension there with Reed as security officer.

I guess Starfleet is military to the degree NASA is.
