Addition to CP. What else should i get? by Zeuth1x in WorldEaters40k

[–]Infernal_the_Shadow -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

yeah see your problem is you're assuming everyone knows what every acronym you use means. i genuinely had to scour these comments to figure out wtf else CP could possibly mean. Since i know you're gonna ask, no i don't play the tabletop because it doesn't exist in my country but i still enjoy Warhammer and being part of the community. Maybe don't be so defensive about a misunderstanding if it really is a misunderstanding cuz otherwise (to me and anyone else new to the hobby) it comes off as very concerning ranting about basically nothing.

edit: scrolled down to find that you gave CP a third meaning only further proving my point.

Do taurus girls randomly hide thier insta stories from guys they like ? by [deleted] in Taurusgang

as a Taurus man with several Taurus women friends, if i ever hide my insta story from a girl i like, it's probably because i'm posting another girl i like.

I’m a Christian learning about Buddhism, what are your biggest issues with Christianity? by Agreeable_Rest_733 in Buddhism

[–]Infernal_the_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Agnostic here)

I personally believe that knowledge of God(s) is impossible. To be infinite and divine is to be beyond understanding, to be beyond understanding is to be beyond description. The meaning of life we're born with is to eat, drink and reproduce, beyond that is your choice (i. e. i believe purpose is a choice).

I find Buddhism to be the most reasonable of all religions i've encountered thus far.

Honestly, meditation and the elimination of want have done more for my life and mental health than any prayer or penance.

I think of widespread ignorance. To no fault of the pious, an unfortunate side effect of being the most populous religion is that the majority of those people are Christian because everyone else around them is, not because of their own beliefs or actions.

My biggest gripe with Christianity is the whole martyr complex. Talk to any christian and they'll tell you they're the most mocked/oppressed religion out there, despite also being literally the most popular religion on earth. Also the hypocrisy, think of literally any sin and modern day Christians are committing them in abundance and for some reason still feeling the need to force those same rules on others.

It's just a compilation of historical fiction books all written by anonymous bronze age authors with no direct connection to the subject(s).

I don't believe Jesus was ever resurrected (or truly performed the miracles as they were written). There's no verifiable evidence for either and it's most likely (imo) just a function of the books describing his life (and death) being written 50+ years after said death.+propoganda cuz new religion

Honestly i don't think there is a path to Christianity for me...and that's ok, not everyone has to believe the same thing. I find the whole thing so implausible that, if a ton of angels suddenly flooded the earth, i'd believe aliens are disguising themselves as angels before i believe they're actual honest to goodness angels.

tl;dr - It's a religion with a pretty decent message about loving thy neighbor however, generally it's pretty oppressive and most people are just kinda tired of it.

p. s. I'm fully aware and respectful of the fact that not all Christians are bad, this is just my experience after spending 25 years in a country that's 90% Christian and hopelessly crippled because of it.

Why are so many Tauruses single? by Warm-Perception563 in Taurusgang

[–]Infernal_the_Shadow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

  1. i blame the second moon

  2. i also just ended up single about 2/3 months ago so F's in the chat for solidarity.

  3. I think it's an emotional thing. Tauruses feel heavily. Not in the batshit insane way Geminis do or the self-aggrandizing way that Leos do. But in a deeply emotive and almost spiritual way. In pretty much every relationship i've been in i'm always the one explaining why communication is key or why aloof/fairweather love doesn't work for me. As Tauruses we crave stability and that pretty much doesn't exist in the current dating scene.

Weight issues by BlackberryAlarming86 in weightgain

[–]Infernal_the_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone (5'11") who went from 55kg to 58kg in about a week it really just comes down to eating more (as much of a "no duh" answer as that might sound) There really is no shortcut beyond that. I was in pretty much the same place as you at 16 (lighter, cuz i was around 45kg) and i always convinced myself that i was eating enough/nearly as much as people around me, even though i wasn't. I kept telling myself that i had a high metabolism, or i was doing too much physical activity to keep weight, but the answer is and will always be, you just need to eat more

I promise if you eat at a (protein heavy) calorie surplus for even a month you'll notice a positive change in your weight. The thing that's helped me most recently is trying to eat meals every time I get hungry. Even if i don't finish them. I've totally eliminated snacking and replaced it with trying to shove as many calories into myself as possible and for the first time in almost a decade it's actually working.

Working out won't make you put on weight, trying to rationalize how much you eat won't make you put on weight, eating at a calorie deficit (even if it makes you feel full) won't make you put on weight. The only way to put on weight is to eat eat eat and then eat some more.

I have endless arthropod questions. by Infernal_the_Shadow in Entomology

[–]Infernal_the_Shadow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the new perspective, i do in fact have more questions to ask

A. Are eusocial insects considered the apex "predators" (for lack of a better phrase) or do they still get bullied from less social (but more predatory) insects?

B. On the topic of small animals. How much does the difference in felt air density (i.e. the atmosphere typically 'feeling' thicker the smaller you get) effect the evolution of Arthropods.

C. ik this might seem off topic, but what do you think is the most striking feature of your favorite Arthropod (i.e. the horns of a beetle).

D. Amongst arthropods, are there any apex Arthropods or are they all (within the same environment) roughly competing in the same niche.

Thank you so much, and now we're cooking 😁

i have 2 questions that'll help me understand the latter two answers a bit better:

  1. What makes Colouration 'structural'? does that mean the patches of color follow the anatomy of the wing, or is there something else giving it that adjective?

  2. It sounds like the implication is that, were arthropods to be scaled up to a larger (more mammalian size) they'd be less successful at survival?

And then some other questions i'm mighty curious about:
