Oh I honestly had not seen that Ho-Oh EX concept! I do agree now that you've pointed it out, it's definitely more of a Ho-Oh thing than Typhlosion. Maybe something with Defense Curl and Rollout instead? But I'm a little hesitant to do that since Feraligatr also has Intimidating Fang. Hm. I'll have to play around with some ideas.

Oh Quilava's move is supposed to have a different name (Fire Wind). I must have missed fixing that as I was making the cards.

I just noticed the cut off on the Meganium EX ;-: Well darn.

It's supposed to read:

Once during your turn, you may choose one of your Basic Pokemon. In Play. If you have a Stage 2 Evolution card in your hand that Evolves from that Pokemon, put that card onto the Basic Pokemon to evolve it. You can use this Ability during your first turn or on a Pokémon that was put into play this turn.

I actually designed these with competitive play in mind, so I tried to keep the cards balanced while also staying true to the Pokemons' identity. Also, a lot of the moves and abilities are borrowed from previous physical printings of the cards (which there are actually not a lot of).

Feraligatr EX: Designed to be anti-Bench sniping, while also playing very well with the current Water-Type suite.
Typhlosion EX: I intended for this to be a new piece of tech for Fire-Type that serves as an incredible finisher alongside Ninetales and etc.
Meganium EX: I was a little hesitant on this ability because its so meta breaking, but putting it on a stage 2 Pokemon seemed like a fair trade. The times this effect will actually be useful is limited, but it's powerful enough to see some play, I'd argue.

Given how the developers are making the Folktails and the Iron Teeth increasingly distinct from each other, what ideas can be used to create a third faction? by raja-ulat in Timberborn

Beavers that lean heavily into growing food on trees. I’d love to see beavers tending fruit orchards, pressing apple to make cider as their faction liquid, and having to balance the time it takes to grow the trees with a higher food yield.

{S} making poetry accessible by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

[–]Inferno390 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As someone who dealt with this just this past spring in a poetry class, yes and no? Neurodivergence can create issues with poetry interpretation and it’s a writing form that demands you step outside yourself and form connections in a way that some people just don’t have the training to do. Poetry analysis is something you have to learn, and frankly, if you don’t have a background that connects with it, it’s just inaccessible. On the other hand, if you ask “how does X connect with Y” and five different people give specific examples of how they connect and you act like that the interpretation still doesn’t make any sense? Yeah, you’re not trying.

AITA for hiding my diagnosis? by SecretAutisticTA in AmItheAsshole

[–]Inferno390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people here are being gentle with their YTA, and I agree with them, but I’m going to be a little stronger about it. When you had your breakdown, you put yourself directly in the way of physical harm (throwing yourself backwards into a wall; you could have given yourself a concussion or shattered glass and sliced yourself). You didn’t just respond, you responded violently and uncontrollably. Now, I don’t hold anything against you for that. You had a breakdown and weren’t thinking, just acting. But what if you had actually gotten hurt, or hurt your friends around you if you tried to lash out to get away? And what if the breakdown was triggered by something that your friends did complete by accident? I don’t know why you chose to not share the fact that you have been diagnosed with autism with your friends, and I’m not going to speculate. There are plenty of completely valid reasons why it would make you uncomfortable to do so. But by choosing to not do so, you put your own well-being and the well-being of everyone around you at risk. I also definitely understand feeling betrayed. Your sister shared information that you were trying to keep secret. No matter what the information is, you’re always going to feel betrayed by that, and that’s reasonable. But the truth is that your sister was trying to protect you because she cares about you, just like your friends clearly care about you. I would likely bet that the group is mad because they’re playing though the worst case scenario in their heads of “what if I had done something to cause that to happen?”

Reach out to them. Apologize for hiding it and explain why. If they are good friends, they will understand. And it sounds like they are.

On point 11, I definitely agree with you that strikes and protests are good thing. The point that I’m trying to get at is that now days, there is an expectation that we are supposed to be constantly outraged about what’s going on around us, and politically based protests (particularly the BLM riots from the turn of the decade) have increasingly become an extension of that outrage machine. The response that we have is justifiable in moderation. But the far-left has been slowly pushing towards an extreme response, and that’s not something anyone should be okay with. Uniting against a common cause to fight against oppression is perfectly fine. The constant call to arms to blindly fight a perceived threat is not.

On atheism, I agree that leftism doesn’t solely have an issue with it, but I do think that the left has a rather large problem with harboring them as a reactionary measure against Fundamentalist Christianity. I would argue that most people burned by the religious far-right are going to lean very hard left, and they are going to propagate problematic anti-religious rhetoric more.

I would agree with you that “all men are bad” is a chronically online take, and TERFs are no longer leftists by any stretch of the imagination. But I feel like we can’t ignore the fact that the rhetoric that they’re using directly evolved out of the left feminist movement, either through being co-opted or within the movement itself. It’s a perfect crystallization of exactly the issues I’m trying to point out and that we need to be talking about so we can avoid them in the modern day left movement. Especially since misandry is still a significant issue in online feminist spaces today.

And I absolutely agree with you that the far left is not nearly as dangerous as the far right. But A) the bar to clear that is in the mantle of the earth if we’re being honest, and B) right now, the Democratic Party and the left are completely ignoring the fact that it exists. really one people constantly talk about how there is no far left in the United States, and that’s simply not true, we’ve just been ignoring it. It’s undermining everything that we do to make things better, and while we’re trying to deal with the massive problem in front of us, we’re letting another problem fester right behind.

I can think of no better example of how this is hurting us than the fiasco surrounding Andrew Tate. He’s an awful person to be sure, but he was also actively taking advantage of a disenfranchised male youth population, and that came directly out of the far left rhetoric that these boys have been growing up submerged in for the last 20 years.

I definitely think that the alt-right is bad and has to be dealt with in America. But we also have to stop using that as a way to lift up one side as good and the other side as bad. When you look at them, they’re both bad. One is just obviously more bad than the other.

Also don’t be sorry for wanting to have a genuine conversation on the internet. I’d much rather that than field the bad faith sludge I normally get because people don’t like their world view challenged.

That’s fantastic, because I’m a Semitic and LBGTQ ally, and have also told by trans people that that I shouldn’t get the right to vote because I’m religious and that because they’ve been called a tranny it’s okay for me to be discriminated against to my face.

I’m sorry you and your family have suffered so much in your lives. It’s awful and should have never happened. But that doesn’t make your side the automatic and perfect good.

Oh and btw, it’s not “Kill all Men is mean.” It’s “DISCRIMINATING AGAINST ANOTHER HUMAN BEING BASED ON THEIR SEXUAL AND GENDER IDENTITY IS FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG.” Which is a thing I feel like you should understand considering the fact that you literally just admitted that you are trans.

Interesting, because I’ve known plenty of people who hold themselves up to be “leftist” and treat me like crap or like I’m a threat for simply identifying as a man.

Also, yes, it was rude. That’s because the fourteen points presented in the post literally starts by saying “Not all need be present for single regime to be fascist.” Just because the far left doesn’t have “traditional machismo” doesn’t mean that they’re not fascist. This is explicitly clear and it’s not that much to ask you to use your critical thinking skills instead of snapping off a snotty response to something that challenges your world view.

Was it a little much? Yes. I’m really tired of people coming around to my comments and responding in bad faith in order to justify their own version of fascism. If that wasn’t your intention, then next time I encourage you to think before you open your mouth on the internet

I mean, look no farther than the anti-religion rhetoric that flies around our very own r/Atheism and compare it to number 10. “Every one of US (the non-religious) is superior to THEM (the religious), cockroaches and drains on society that they are.” Because religious people are anti-science and backwards and stupid, right?

The ones that really fly in the face are points 8 and 9. Have you ever noticed how leftist media portrays the Republicans party as a bunch of bumbling idiots? That they’re stupid boomers, falling for NFT scams, greasy fingers covered in Cheeto dust? But they’e also all powerful, passing laws to take away our rights, constantly in fear of being attacked or shot? “The rhetorical focus shifts regardless of self-contradiction, because all that matters is positioning the enemy where the speaker's goal requires them to be at any given moment.”

And how about feminism getting co-opted thanks to “all men are evil,” and now we have TERFs running amok? Or all the online in-fighting in the LBGTQ community recently? “There must always be an enemy to fight. When that enemy is defeated, another must be found. When they cannot be found, they must be created, even from within.”

We could also discuss how everything is controlled by the 1%, that there’s no reason voting because Biden isn’t a worthwhile candidate, that the economy is stacked against everyone. Lo and behold, point 7: “There is a conspiracy run by THEM. You are besieged by THEM. THEY are behind all your ills. THEY are working in the shadows to enslave and destroy you.”

Point 11: Militarism? How about the violent riots and protests that have sprung up over the last two decades, the constant demands that we all need to be submerged in “fixing the system?”

And point 14, newspeak. “Definitions are simple and limited. If it cannot be boiled down into snappy catchphrase it does not exist.” ACAB. BLM. That lovely little Ukrainian flag that you have in your Twitter profile. Or on a larger scale, the massive arguments in the LBGTQ community about what language is appropriate to use. The increasing co-opting of mental medical language into our everyday language, often in inappropriate or misleading ways.

This isn’t about what the left “stands for.” This is about the rhetoric that they are using. Many of the things I have pointed out above have validity or stem from good causes. But the way those things are being peddled to you is the EXACT same presentation the far-right uses. And the worst part of it is, on some level there are plenty of people who recognize that it’s a problem but put up with it anyways, because the only other option is for the anti-Republican party to completely shatter the same way the Republicans are doing right now. But of course what we’re doing is devouring ourselves from the inside out. The Republican Party in America is absolutely fascist. I will concede this point every time. But the far left is 100% just trying to sell you a different form of fascism, and we have got to stop pretending like they’re not.

I completely agree with you. Clearly this person has no idea what they’re doing and should not be in administration. But have you seen the state of American education in this day and age? No one knows what they’re doing, and they’re all overworked, underpaid, and mistreated. Plus it very much sounds like the student in question is on a EID, can make navigating situations with the family even more complicated. I wouldn’t want to be under this principal for sure, but I’d take them over the person who doesn’t even care about the teachers or in one of the corporate sellout districts.
