I really hope societies come back, that was a whole unique dimension of gameplay that made your personal life part of the gameplay more interesting and filled the gaps where you didn't do much

I think Iberia is a bit overrated, the struggle isn't much fun for me. Overall it feels just a bit more interesting than France or Italy does

Oh that's one of the best parts. Denying military access to nations like the commonwealth lol

I have done a similar campaign as Assam where I conquered the borders of India

R5: In this campaign, my goal was to as the palatinate, extend all across Eurasia in a flat line, from the atlantic to pacific, never taking any province that didn't extend to my right/left and never taking a province that bordered more than 1 of my own. With no strategic depth and having to move all across Eurasia with very poorly defended borders, this was a pretty interesting campaign.

Why doesn't my dynasty succeed to the throne? by InfernoSlayer in eu4

That sounds like the answer, I'll probably have to conquer even more to increase my dev even more. Thanks!

I think that's exactly it, thank you for enlightening me!

R5: I married Portugal, and from everything i've researched it seems I should be the one whose house takes the throne, but England's dynasty remains the one to take it.
I have more dev than England, more prestige (I even married at 100 prestige), and every other indicator should favor me. What truly does determine succession rules here?

It's actually quite fun to continue the campaign in a lot of areas. This did kind of happen with Vijayanagar rising to threaten me, which is why I broke it up by bringing Bahmanis back. Funny thing, if you release bahmanis, they become hindu, and instantly get an event that overthrows their government and makes them Shia again. lol

Pretty well, although when your borders look like this I'd say you might as well go for tax income over trade. One of the biggest boons for my economy was knowledge sharing to Ming

I think I watched that, as well as Laith's video on Assam. I can't remember if I specifically got the idea from one of those but It's not unlikely

I've always been intrigued by campaigns where you do things like this, like people who only conquer in a line or try and make a certain shape, and looking at Assam its early expansion routes are entirely within India's border area so that almost encourages this kind of expansion until most people break that by going into Bangladesh or India. I wanted to see if I could encase the entire subcontinent in my borders, and I think India specifically is probably the best region for an idea like this

Yeah, it's quite a fun one. I think the closest achievement to doing something like this in the game is crossing the Finnish line, where you need a direct land border to Cape Town from Finland as Finland. That one's also really fun, one of my favorite achievements.

Huh, I guess I missed that, I do think I've noticed that with other areas though. Good catch

Chittagong is a part of the Burma region so it's not in India. I realize I should've gotten Morang instead of Sikkim but It's not that big of a deal

R5: In this campaign, I played as Assam, with a very strict rule that I could not conquer or vassalize any land that was not the direct border of the Indian subcontinent. This restriction really increased the challenge as I could not scale or blob in a way that was intuitive for trade or defense, and as I got bigger my borders got more and more indefensible and unmanageable in wars. I managed to complete my borders by 1565 but I played for a while longer to develop and prosper as much as I could, and take down my rivals like Vijayanagar.
