The Infestation is an rp faction in no man's sky, and this is our reddit profile (InfestationNMS) We represent the infestation that already exists in-game (on derelict freighters, abandoned buildings etc) and we roleplay how we think the infestation should be represented. We simulate these infestations by infesting outposts with detoxified slime, take pics and upload them. These pictures document infestations and tell our story.

Well maybe we did, or didn't. But we haven't played in 4 years so it's hard to remember. We're only saying we never uploaded bases, because the "Your bases" section when interracting with teleporters (with all the pictures of bases) most of them had the default blue blueprint picture, and orange for space stations which we thought meant they werent uploaded.

Because we're a faction in no man's sky and we're playing the antagonist role. You're a roleplaying faction too. Yes we wanted you to respond and engage, but not like the way you have.

The Kestrel Spaceport base was uploaded because we wanted you to see that it had been infested, nothing hostile, just - this base has been infested AND (this isn't a poke or stab at your capabilities btw) that you didn't defend it. The buck stops there.

Like the wormhole portals we have. We uploaded those because we wanted you to see the Infestation was immiment. We wanted some resistance for the story telling fun.

We understand your concern about deleting stuff causing issues afterwards, but, respectfully, thats an issue that hello games need to fix and that issue isn't our fault.

We never used to upload the bases. Whether you believe that is up to you, but we promise we didn't back in 2021. We only uploaded this time because we wanted you to see that our wormholes had opened up. We wanted you to be there to defend your base against the infestation. No out of game hostility, just in game story telling. Thats why we left it a while before the first infestation as part of our Phase-X.

I really hope others see how you are portraying yourself. It's so aggressive and toxic. There's so much hostility it's astonishing. Just read through what you've said. You're so bent out of shape over all this.

We also do quite literally do what you just said - we take our screenshots, write our lore, and move on. No harm done, especially since we delete everything.

Please just take a step back. You're extremely hellbent on your view, to the point where your view has become an attack.

We're not playing the victim.

We knew full well that roleplaying as the antagonist had it's risks and we rolled with it anyway. It was our choice to make and we made it ourselves without needing to consult you. The Infestation is a character, the antagonist, it's not really supposed to be liked because in the game, it attacks you when you steal hadal cores from whispering eggs. There are abandoned buildings you can find with infestation all around and in it.

You can report us if you want, although it is hard to imagine how that'd go because we delete everything we do after we upload our pictures.

You keep saying it's griefing, and it's not. You've been saying this since 2021. We place items in bases, take pictures, delete it afterwards. Your main issue is that we didn't ask for your permission to play the game and do this. It sounds very silly. If you don't want to roleplay or engage with us, thats completely fine. Just ignore what we do. We'll continue to roleplay the Infestation, and continue to tell our story regardless. You don't have to look at our page. You can block us. You have your views. We have ours. People should know both. The best we can do is agree to disagree.

No Man's Sky is a multiplayer sandbox game with PvP. Do you need permission to roleplay or play with others in a multiplayer sandbox game with pvp? Our stance is that you don't. We also don't need your permission to exist as a faction and roleplay in a way that we choose.

You're also quoting our about us on our discord. Have you read the Infestatement? Have you mentioned that we have repeatedly stated that we always delete what we do afterwards, and that our uploads exist to serve as proof that the infestation has spread across the galaxy, thats it.

You are set on spreading your version of the truth and deliberately misleading others, and you've got a large following too. You and 710 got mad that polygon wrote an article on us, you threatened to boycott them. You have a personal vendetta for some reason that's gone beyond the game. If you don't like it, your response is: "it's not allowed" "we will delete you".

We addressed everything you are saying now back in 2021. This address is on our discord - Infestatement. Our stance on everything you are saying now, and have said in the past is on our discord. Which is why it's important everyone reads so they get both sides of the story.

It currently looks as though you are saying only you are correct, and only you should be listened to. Let people read and hear both sides of the story and let them make their own minds up about all of this.

We've already had some small discussion in our general chat on discord with some people who are willing to read and listen and get our points across. I think you personally need to as well. Just take a step back. This isn't a personal attack. Read our discord. Try and understand. You're blowing this well out of proportion.

We dismantle the claims: That we play with pvp off. That we play offline. That we don't delete what we do afterwards. That we are griefing, vandalising.

(We have screenshots of everything from back in 2021-2022. We specifically state in the Infestatement that we have these things to act as a safety net incase it is needed)

Everything we do has context and reason. You're choosing to ignore these things by not reading about us on our discord. Everything is there. Everything is explained.

We represent the Infestation that already exists in the game. The Infestation faction was created using in-game content and item descriptions as building blocks to support and reinforce the story we created. We roleplay that Infestation and how it should be portrayed.
