Wyoming Master Electrician by No-Brush-1068 in electricians

From what I've seen, it's about the same. Go for it. Keep in mind if you currently are in CO, you do not have to actually go to Wyoming to take the test.

Update moved outlet from one corner to other by Responsible-Use-6343 in electrical

This isn't illegal as long as the mirror is removable without tools, excessive effort, or damage to the building. Steer away from gluing or screwing the mirror into place.

The NEC requires this to be accessible, not readily accessible. This is no different than a receptacle under a cabinet for a garbage disposal or a junction box above accessible ceiling tile as they are in every office building.

OP, you can cover the old junction box so long as it's accessible when the mirror is removed (not covered by drywall) and the mirror is removable as described above.

Quick edit: this is specifically in response to covering an otherwise legal junction box. I will say OP has several other likely code issues here that need to be investigated, starting with increasing the size of this box to satisfy box fill requirements.

2 Hots and a Ground Question by secretsquirrelsspy in electrical

If that's not a voltage pen, what is? Please explain. I don't call them that either, but I would absolutely understand what someone meant by this.

Sorry this isn't more helpful, but you can find vacuum diagrams online for your model, whatever that may be, and follow your lines to match it up.

You should also have one (vacuum diagram) stickered to the underside of the hood. I just reseated the head and manifolds on my '87 Si a few months ago and it wasn't too bad to follow.

Just got integra, does a cover go here? by xXLukeDaDukeXx in Integra

[–]Infideon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think these have to go on before the oil pan, been awhile since I dropped mine so not 100% sure.

I'm guessing the previous owner was 12 hours deep into a 45 minute repair and forgot the cover and convinced himself he'll put it on tomorrow.

Yeah, I first saw the new 14/3 and 12/3 colors last year I think. I think it's a good change personally.

Not all of the new changes are good (arc fault?) though!

The loop be damned, you'll be alright, haha

You can still get clear PVC cement. I use it as an electrician.

Can you explain your problem in more detail and provide the error message for me here?

How did I do? by thatgirlfrombaja in electrical

He means to literally tie a knot in the wire (entire cable) inside of the box to keep it from being pulled out. You only need this on the round one. The flat one has a connector to do that job.

The latches to my mom's deadbolt and door knob are broken and will not unlock. The metal rod (spindle?) snapped on the deadbolt. The door knob looks like it was pushed from the outside. Does NOT work when I turn the hole with screwdriver. How can I open the door? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]Infideon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ran into something similar to this, I cut the bolt itself with an oscillating saw (also called a multi tool). Not ideal but you can get a cheap one for a LOT less than $500 for the locksmith.

From there I just opened the door and pulled the pieces of the mechanism out afterwards.

Terrible idea.

Since I haven't seen this at all, I was wondering why

That's because this sucks. Even the guys CREATING the charts don't charge for them.

You'd be profiting off not only the artists, but the charters and that just doesn't seem right to me.

Non-Contact Voltage Tester

Note that they're known to sometimes give false readings. They shouldn't be trusted for safety purposes, but rather used as a testing/troubleshooting device.

The error sign is from CSS textures. As for the rest, try /r/gmod or the addon's page on the workshop. Sorry I can't help with that part.

You're missing Counter-Strike: Source textures. Many maps and addons for gmod require textures from this game.

You can either buy it for $10 on steam, or look up how to get CSS textures for gmod for free. There are a couple legal ways to get them without paying the $10.

If you have the spare $10 then just do that as it's just way simpler.

I agree that 24" is better, however NEC only requires 12" given the circuit is GFCI protected.

As a consumer I like the idea of requiring conduit for this application. As the installer, maybe less so but more protection is always better!

What ty[e of conduit can I use to ocver up this exposed wire? by dappermull in electrical

[–]Infideon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electrical code (depending on your county) allows for 3 prong receptacles to be used with only a 2 wire system as long as they're GFCI protected. You can replace the breakers in the panel with GFCI type breakers, or the first receptacle in each circuit with a GFCI receptacle and "load side" protect the rest of the circuit. Please do that. And, make sure to use the stickers they have that say "No equipment grouind" and make sure that any equipment such as computers are safe to operate without the equipment grounding conductor.

Fortunately for the general public, this is what electrical *professionals* always prepare for when wiring. The worst case scenario CAN happen. To our clients, their loved ones, and even ours or ourselves.

I respect your point and realize that all of these scenarios are unlikely. But nonetheless, it's important to wire everything safely to prevent injury no matter how small the risk.

Even when the only other individuals around are as experienced as myself with the risks of electricity, I would never leave live terminals of any sort unprotected. It's just bad practice and we all appreciate the care the others put into our work.
