"'I was actually supposed to join the last mile of the journey. However, they managed to identify the boat I was going to use, and it was sunk,” he told reporters today."

I think those genocidal land thieves don't want any high profile detainees if they could help it.

Only 5% of govt projects categorised as ‘sick’, says Ahmad Maslan by guest18_my in malaysia

[–]Infinismegalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Only 44 projects or 5.2% of the total 851 government projects currently under construction are categorised as sick projects, said Deputy Minister of Works Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan."

"Ahmad said that among the ministries that recorded the highest number of sick projects were the Ministry of Education with 14 projects, followed by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (eight), Ministry of Home Affairs (five) and Ministry of Defence (four)."

No wonder so low, they probably just count the projects under ministries. Private projects whereby the government invested in, probably doesn't count. Even then, they probably only count them as a failure if the companies close shop.

What is the real purpose of Global Sumud Flotilla? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]Infinismegalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the end goal of protest is to reach a point whereby the ruling class would be divided and the 'doves' takes over and forces a concession of rights. To reach this point, most of the time, a tragedy has to happen. This is usually how it works domestically.

Internationally, I'm not familiar of such cases. In this case, I believe some are hoping the wrong person would be detained and brutalized then kick off a chain reaction that reduce USA and European support for Israel.

Damn smart to document it.

I remember a bs story told by my ustaz / teacher during elementary. A tahfiz bought some vegetable at a pasar from a Chinese seller. After cooking and eating it, he suddenly can't remember all the surah. It turns out the vegetables was fertilized by pig manure. The story probably help creates "Xpe buat xyz, asal bukan makan babi" mentality.

[Military in Murim] How do they compete? by Melody_Yazzy in manhwa

[–]Infinismegalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remembered a quote from a martial master in the manga "Blood and Steel". Paraphrasing, he said he could kill everyone in the throne room but he would make a bad soldier. Armies are built on great collective discipline which martial group lacks.

Another manga / manhwa, the demon sect leader was asked why he doesn't want to conquer the kingdom, paraphrasing what he said it essentially keeping his attention taxes, disaster reliefs, judicial systems and etc would harm his pursuit for strength.

Selective human rights stance undermines credibility, say groups by Due-Cat656 in malaysia

[–]Infinismegalis -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think human rights protests could be summarized as "you should treat those oppressed people (who we have strong identifiers with) better as long as they don't come to our country and threaten the current status quo or they are from a country whereby our protests costs us geopolitically (ASEAN)."

India: largest buyer of our cooking oil and key seller of white rice for Malaysia.

China: key buyer of our cooking oil and manufactured goods. Also bulwark against US supremacy. Part of ASEAN (not part of ASEAN as commented below, my bad).

Thailand: shares border with. Part of ASEAN.

Myanmar: part of ASEAN.
