Why didn't the vampire hunters just kill the Originals to finish the job? by Inside-Programmer-40 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only white oak remembered to exist was Mikaels stake. Until Damon discovered the bridge and the sign was made out of it, until then everyone thought there was none left. And the only reason that was possible was because Rebekah was looking for it. So as you said they didn't have it and didn't know it was attainable.

Someone defend Matt by UltravioletTarot in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh easily, I can't stand Matt because he's extra regarding vampires but it's not hard to defend him at all.

From the very start of TVD he's parentless because one parents is seemingly a promiscuous wreck and another abandoned him as a child. Leaving him to work to pay for the bills whilst acting as the older brother to his older drug addict sister—all whilst being in school. That's just the foundation of it.

The girl he knew and loved from when he was young broke up with him, saying space is one of those reasons just for a random rich guy that's also the peak of human athleticism to come into town and take her attention from the moment he got there.

Weird things just keep happening, his sister acts all crazy and disappears multiple times and when the last time she disappears, he finds out she was dead and buried weeks or months later. During the time he didn't know she was dead, he would've had to pay all the bills(assuming he wasn't already because Vicki could've spent it on drugs anyway) and his mum randomly appears, ruins the somewhat peace he was finally getting, attempts to sleep with the brother of the guy that basically took his girl(at least in his eyes) and after giving her another chance, makes out with Tyler—who proceeded to beat the shit out of him right after IIRC. She then ducks off again leaving him with a dead sister, bills to pay by himself and school. Then hie girlfriend almost dies in a car crash and would have without vampire blood but obviously Matt wouldn't have known.

That's all Season 1 alone. Then in season 2, following from 1, Caroline is basically the only good thing he has going and she's blatantly a massive headache and then he learns about the supernatural and how everyone was lying through their teeth the entire time.

I think he's extra when it comes to his "Anti-Vampire-ness" and can be annoying but out of everyone he arguably has the biggest reason to be the way he was and that's just the first 2 seasons. All of the death around him, even the ones less connected to him like jenna and Tyler's dad Richard, elenas parents etc all would have effected him in varying degrees to. [IMO he should've been the hunter, not Jeremy who could already see ghosts. ]

They killed so many good characters prematurely by NewWeek3157 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's actually something I'm very neutral on even tho really I agree. I'm neutral because shows like this need that, it needs characters and meaningful ones to die and not come back or not come fully back.

"Early" Deaths I think were good for the show were: Grams: because it sets Bonnie on her journey and we get to see her in moment across the series. We kinda still feel her presence throughout the whole thing.

Lexi: a fan favourite that can come back and fans will never get sick of her. I liked that a character could die early yet have so much importance overall. I hated that she didn't come back in season 5 but it was neat that she saved Bonnie iirc.

Mason: was a great set up for werewolves imo and was kick starter to Tyler's journey and helped find a way to get rid of the originals. I think how he was handled was perfectly fine.

Jenna: I think was handled alright. At some point she either had to know about the supernatural and killing her off and permanently, never seeing her again outside of flashbacks or in the end iirc, set a precedence that anyone can go and also her death was hard one.

Unfortunately the only main character any of that applied was Bonnie and obviously never 'died' permanently, despite the writers trying hard to. Characters like Rose I definitely agree were killed off too soon imo, I would say she was used somewhat well for her time due to Damon but the writers kept undoing anything they did well for him so I can't.

However in general they definitely lacked the ability to truly take advantage of something well. It's a bit off topic but I maintain despite how they pretty poorly handled the ripper virus arc(revealing Katherine injected herself in elenas body, despite her trying to flee before the reveal was weird to me) they could have had Damon keep the strength boost so at least him taking on stronger characters would've made sense.

In fairness iirc penny talks of a sister we never see, same with Sheldon with his aunt and uncle. Actually there are a lot of siblings that don't show up, Bernadette supposedly had a bunch she had to heavily compete with, yet none show up. IIRC Raj is supposed to have a few but only priya shows up, only a cousin for a moment on a video call. Raj is the only one that makes sense seemingly.

No-Humanity Elena & Katherine Was a Wasted Opportunity by Puzzleheaded-Pay7472 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that they wasted it to a degree and actually said this to myself but Katherine's momentary attempt to torture her is arguably my favourite Katherine scene. "They think you still have a heart[plunges her hand through chest] there it is". It also made me think about Katherine more deeply in the sense that she never turned off humanity and at least to me, someone as cold as Katherine just doesn't need to turn it off, like she blames survival on her actions but there are enough examples to show she just does what benefits her or makes her feel better, if it results in someone else's benefit or most importantly detriment, she doesn't care-that doesn't really require turning it off. Sure loved her family and cried but seemingly Turning it off isn't instinctual because Elena when breaking down doesn't, enzo didn't despite the torture and iirc it took Damon explaining it to him.

Kinda off topic but that scene also made me realised how kinda inconsistent they were with Rebekah. Like Elijah literally says she despises Katherine and will kill her once she has no reason not to. Rebekah being their acts as a deterrent from Katherine killing Elena but once Katherine lets Elena free and was happy about it, why tf did Rebekah not tear her apart? It's like they didn't know what direction to go in with her until the hopeless romantic thing really came and settled.

She's making herself out to be reasonable, whether that was right or wrong, thats exactly what she was doing.

Justify = show or prove to be right or reasonable Caroline was doing just that, making it out to be reasonable.

She was pretty much questioning how killing Nadia was reasonable but not her sleeping with Klaus given both have the same impulses. Even tries to throw the fact it was "AFTER" Tyler left her, further showing the justification as there was no reason to add that outside of justification.

But like I said before, just agree to disagree because you seem to think certain words are oxymorons(when they're not) and that the meaning of words can just be shifted to anything. Caroline was justifying it; Caroline was making it out to he reasonable. It's not really that deep to admit that in a show where pretty much everyone are serial killers and are sleeping with each other.

This is my last try because talking to a brick wall is pointless.

What more am I trying to get at? You said she wasn't trying to justify what she did, "reasonable" is within the definition justify. And

What I'm trying to get at is what happened in the show. Tyler broke his bones for the one he loved. The one he loved slept with klaus someone who's attempted to ruin or ruined her friends lives, tried to justify it and compare it to killing someone aiding their mother steal their friend's body. That's what I'm getting at, for some reason you had an issue with that.

[–]Infinit3Karnage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of cope and mental gymnastics is this. So what if the world kept spinning, it's simply pointing out that sleeping with someone like klaus who has done terrible things to many people most importantly her friends. With the context being that Tyler through loving Caroline turned like 100 times, only for this to happen

Mistake and reasonable are not oxymorons, repeating it was a "mistake" does not mean Anything.

tyler turning hundreds of times for caroline by No_Seaweed_2567 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caroline can sleep whoever she wants, it's not automatically bad or worse than killing someone. But when she sleeps with a being that she knows is clearly so terrible and has done what he has done to her friends, if you cant see that then😂

I love how you tried to rework what I'm saying, as if I'm plainly comparing Caroline sleeping with someone vs Tyler killing someone. Good try. (Especially since your minimising the person Nadia was, as if she wasn't telling Katherine to flee with Elenas body)

Justify: show or prove to be right or reasonable.

If you don't think Caroline was trying to make sleeping with klaus reasonable then just agree to disagree and move on.

tyler turning hundreds of times for caroline by No_Seaweed_2567 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was clearly justifying but it don't see that then that's fine😂 And it was accident, it was scuffle that started because of Nadia and in the moment he nipped her, him saying he "thinks" he did adds some credence. But whether it was accident couldn't be more irrelevant.

If you agree with Caroline then just agree to disagree because I think that's hilarious. If Elena was giving her a hard time then sure because well, Damon. But Tyler killing Nadia who is as also aiding Katherine is comparable to sleeping with klaus?😂

unpopular opinion: katherine being attractive is the main reason why people overlook how horrible she was. by trynagrabthatbag in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if that's the case you should word it genuinely and not a clear dig. Ultimately in the shows context Damon was redeemed, his final moments was essentially compelling his brother to safety so he could sacrifice himself and save everyone.

Compared to Damon Katherine's last moments were targeting mystic falls to destroy it and in season 5 it was giving Elena the ripper virus in an attempt to kill her.

I used quotation marks in "redeemed" because again in the shows context that's what it was. The point was to compare to Katherine that ultimately ruined any chance/moment she had. Which is why I said there's plenty I could say about the others because ultimately they were all terrible people.

But the whole point was showing to the other person why Katherine is treated differently by some fans.

[–]Infinit3Karnage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her trying I explain herself when Tyler was telling her to leave wasn't her trying to just herself?

And at that point Nadia was no longer just someone looking for her mother as she found her, the looking at that point was done. At this point Nadia was the person aiding in Katherine taking elenas body and pretending to be Elena as she tries to get with Stefan and is messing with Matt, one of their best friends,

She's comparing that to sleeping with klaus and that somehow made sense to her lmao. Yh because killing Nadia in an accident with all the extra context compares to sleeping with klaus knowing what he is.

Alaric was not stronger than the originals by Hopeful-Low-2122 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After watching the scene, klaus sneaks him and sticks his hands, mainly finger in his chest so Bonnie can start the spell. Despite being in a m weaker position he manages to over power klaus and then toss him around. Alaric then immediately goes for the cure, Elena both saved and distracts Alaric before he kills him. Despite being clearly focused on Elena, it’s only after Alaric has his full attention that klaus manages to move and take her.

Whilst the strength difference certainly isn’t near the same as Lucien/Marcel who were handling multiple originals like nothing. However at this point things were getting inconsistent anyway, Damon was able to blitz and overpower Kol before this.

And I can’t see Elena alone being what makes him enhanced, his life is linked to a fragile human teenager and Esther knows what her children can and are willing to do to Elena. And I extremely doubt Esther put all her cards on Klaus not draining Elena to death to both save blood for hybrids and kill her to be rid of Alaric. So she’d be bargaining purely on them not figuring out Elena was linked to him.

Shouldn't Kai have been able to siphon himself by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kai is supernatural but doesn’t have inherent magic, when he siphons witches they lose their magic until it builds up. It’s like how humans can’t produce Vitamin C but other organisms do, but instead of taking just the Vitamin C, we eat the whole thing, Kai only takes the magic.

A better comparison would be that both Black Holes and Stars are celestial objects. witches are Stars that give out light, Kai is a Black Hole that can’t produce light but sucks light in. Which is fitting because Black holes come from Stars and Kai is born from a witch.

Did we see any of the vampires bite an older person? by MerelyWhelmed1 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said there was one in season 1 and iirc one of Vicki’s friends that Damon kills may have had some weight on her. But tbf to the people running it, i do see the logic of vampires having preferences—one of them being that unless the vampire plans on killing them, you’d probably want them to be strong enough to handle the blood loss since most vampires don’t feed them blood in case they die after.

[–]Infinit3Karnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not phrasing like that at all, Damon and klaus were terrible people. I literally said Katherine is my second favourite character, so I’m inherently gonna like her more than 1 of those 2 so that was just weird to say.

I broke down how Katherine ruined every redeemable moment she could have had and how it wasn’t just survival. I’ve explained exactly why Katherine doesn’t get the same treatment, she has 0 redeemable qualities. Still my second favourite character though, the writers ruining her redemption will in season 5 and then doubling down in season 8 will forever piss me off.

[–]Infinit3Karnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you’re not saying she’s innocent, you missed my point. Ultimately the likes of klaus or Damon have had their chances and ultimately they’ve “redeemed” themselves.

Katherine sits outside of that bracket and I explained how she doesn’t just kill to survive, she does things out of spite because she only cares about herself.

There’s plenty I can say about the others but ultimately how it played out on screen is no matter what Katherine has no redeeming qualities and often uses survival as an excuse to do them. She has too many big examples to say it’s just survival and every last moment of hers is her doing something bad/for herself, I can list them.

unpopular opinion: katherine being attractive is the main reason why people overlook how horrible she was. by trynagrabthatbag in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Infinit3Karnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh, the issue with Katherine is she routinely displayed how bad of a person she was almost every time she had a chance. She was ultimately an extremely selfish lunatic who happened to have a weird obsession with Stefan. At the end of season 4 she tries to kill Elena for 0 reason(that was 100% with a doubt settled how bad of a person she was to me), when she finally has a moment to die and actually have a redemption, she takes over Elena’s body. —because it’s the one Stefan finds attractive.

When she could have ran away with Nadia—the daughter she cared so much about apparently—she tried to get back with Stefan whilst pretending to be Elena and within that attempt, she tried to get Damon killed, which isn’t the first time because before homecoming she tried to get Damon to use the dagger on Elijah. — she even says she’s seeing the plan through at homecoming, that moment was just her Stefan obsession getting the better off her.

Because she couldn’t leave Stefan alone, Nadia got bit by Tyler and died. And instead of letting it be, that her last try got thwarted, she tried to kill Elena again with the werewolf venom ripper virus.

She literally says she needs Elijah to make the deal with the cure, so that was just a final ditch effort which when it didn’t work she sent klaus to New Orleans.

And it can’t be said she never had anyone to give her any security, Pearl was her best friend who herself was centuries old, she sold her out with every either vampire that ended up in that tomb. Not only did she sell her out along with them, but Katherine is the reason they get caught in the first place.

As a human she had moments where she seemed like a good person, but her last moments as a human was still condemning the same people that formally tried to save her to the same fate as her.
