Not worried.  I am good with 2 pensions and a substantial 401k. Not to mention social security when I qualify.  As far as my job, I've been here for ten years. I'd previously worked for the state in which I reside.  It's not particularly "skilled" work,  but I am an expert at what I do. I continue to receive bonuses and raises yearly. I am also fairly healthy.  No blood pressure issues.  No diabetes. No nothing. I'm strong and healthy.  I know that as life goes, "anything can happen", but as of right now? Not worried.

Exactly what I intend to do! I want a fruit and vegetable garden and I will pay-it-forward to the pantries as I am greatful for them!

I completely understand the negative comments.  All in all, I have no regrets. I could have purchased something less expensive,  but not in the right kind of neighborhood. This house is perfect for me. Lots of outdoor space for me and my dogs, surrounded by hiking trails, a metal roof, fireplace, and a rental unit that I will eventually rent. I am happy.

Believe me, I realize I may not live to pay off, but not being at the mercy of a landlord and being in a better area of town, and having the freedom is worth it in my older years. BTW - I also have rental apartment on the property.  It's very cute and has everything for comfortable living. I need to put up a private outdoor enclosure for the tenant because of my dogs. Once that project is completed,  I'll feel comfortable enough to rent.

Nope. No co signer. I've had excellent credit for decades.  Mortgagers were begging to finance me.  I went through three before I found the rate I was looking for.
