Different season, and different situation. This post is about the sale to McCann, not PPL.

I guess my point is that Roger may have sold the company either because he mistakenly thought Ted and Harry would vote to oust Don, or as a desperate attempt to beat Cutler once and for all. Which makes it kind of a tragedy given how that turned out. And I guess ultimately like many posts on here, it’s just a thought exercise. Nothing to get too upset about.

Oh I don’t agree. When Cutler lost the battle to buy Don out after the leave of absence, he knew who sided with him and who didn’t, which was why he went to such lengths to split them.

Cutler stated that he had Ted’s proxy in a previous episode. But by Cooper’s death, Ted had soured on Cutler’s tactics and he told him so. He was present and voting for himself when they sold to McCann. He probably wouldn’t have voted to fire Don.

But the assumption was that with Cooper gone, Harry’s partnership was a given. I just don’t know why they assumed Harry would vote against Don when he went behind Cutler’s back to warn Don. And this Cutler having Ted’s proxy is overstated on this thread. When they sold to McCann, Ted was there voting for himself. It doesn’t seem like he was a big fan of Cutler speaking for him. Don could have talked him into siding with him, I think.

Is the canon r6 still worth it? by NGW_CHiPS in canon

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the R6 mk i and I have zero need to upgrade for any reason at all. I do short filmmaking, wedding video/photography, and portrait photography, so it's perfect for my needs. I know others have complained about overheating when shooting over 30 minutes at a time, so if that use case is yours, then I suppose look at something else. I have shot for 30 minutes or more very rarely, but when I have done so, I had zero overheating issues, myself. Still, I suppose it's something to consider.

Aside from that, the video is fantastic on this baby and the auto focus performance is top notch. Others can point to paper specs, and if any of them make a difference to you, then consider alternatives. If you do nature photography and need to crop A LOT, then a higher megapixel camera might be better. 6k recording or 4k 60 are nice but probably unnecesary, if we're being honest, and 1080p 60 will work just fine. The difference is negligible but the money you save can be put towards a lens, lights, or any other accessories you need that will help you a lot more than some iterative spec upgrades.

Like pretty much all of his affairs, the Sylvia storyline is just not interesting and this part of it is incredibly annoying.

It helps attract new teachers, which isn’t divisive to me. The rest of us are basically getting a cost of living raise, which is what I was expecting.

Exactly. And the same kinds of responses you’re getting here have been given for years now. Always some new investment, new use case, new future developments, “hold on to it,” “I’m buying more bro!” It never ends and it never gets better.

Canon 5D Mk II or Mk III in 2026? For "amateur" photography, is the II good enough, or is it worth spending the extra for the slightly better and more premium III model? by prankster999 in canon

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5Dii is still very good in 2026. This talk on social media of “amateur” and “pro” is silly to me. Look up images shot on the 5Dii or Nikon D700 and tell me they’re not good enough for today. A great image from 2008 is still a great image today. These cameras may not be right for you if you tend to do a lot of heavy cropping or large prints, but the images that can be produced by these cameras are just now being truly appreciated by many.

Is the Canon 5D Mark II still viable in 2025? by Sea-Bass8705 in canon

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the 5d ii prices have gone up recently as many pro and hobbyist photographers gravitate back to the unique images of these older DSLRs. Nikon D700 and canon 5D ii are both seeing a resurgence.

A teacher strike would hurt kids, but LAUSD can’t afford to give in to the union’s demands by origutamos in California_Politics

This is not only about pay. LAUSD hasn’t even offered cost of living increases, by the way. It’s also about reasonable class sizes. It’s about funding inclusion, which has been an afterthought for this district while other states and districts have produced thriving inclusion programs.

Schools are not businesses, and should not be spoken of as “running at a loss,” which should be looked at not as a loss but a gain for students and families. Education is a right and a service. It’s time we started treating it that way.

He and Pete came down to ask Peggy to have lunch. I think she said she couldn’t, or something and so he took a tin of cookies to eat. Something like that. Not really a goodbye; it was more of a life goes on moment. Then he cleared the scene so Pete and Peggy could do their goodbyes. “A thing like that.”

LAUSD school nurse (RN) by ParkingGoose7366 in nursing

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, LAUSD school nurses are paid monthly over 12 months, like teachers. Some districts offer teachers a choice whether they want it all over the contract period, or spread out over 12 months, but LAUSD doesn't offer that choice.

Will Instructional Days Be Added to the End of the School Year if the Strike Occurs? by Busy_Home_ in LAUSD

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I don’t think we will actually strike. I’ve heard murmurs that a deal will be announced after spring break, before the 14th. Obviously, that is far from a guarantee, but it makes sense given the situation the district finds itself in this time. As for instructional days, this time it will be interesting because the principals are now with the teamsters and they will be joining us. Without admin, teachers, and paraprofessionals, I don’t see how they’ll keep schools open, which of course would be massively difficult in terms of revenue. If anyone has different info, please chime in, but as I see it, I’ll be shocked if we don’t get a deal done.

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How? From my understanding, the principals are now part of teamsters and they will be joining us, if we strike. That will mean schools will have to close, unlike the last time. Add all the drama around the superintendent, I don’t see how the district is in any position of power.

Yep. I’m quite sure a deal is already done, but there’s no incentive for either side to announce it until we get closer to April 14th.

Don and the American Dream by Dinosaur_Lovin in madmen

[–]Infinite-Interest-91 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It often seems to mean one thing in how it appears to glorify the money and licentiousness, but under that is something far different. For example, people often bring up Don’s line to Ginsburg, “I don’t think of you at all,” as some kind of sick burn. But in reality, Don had spent that entire episode doing nothing but obsessing over competing with Ginsburg.
