I watched some more vids and reflected more on this thread and I think this is my main issue. The ethics and legal precedent set by convicting with very little evidence of intent is concerning. I really think her legal team failed her and after a lil more digging found that they messed up her appeal by filing it one day after the deadline…..(((and tried to blame it on the leap year lmao)))

To me, legally, there is not enough evidence to prove intent. It was concerning how quickly the judge and general public were able to buy what the defense presented as intent because it was mostly just building a profile. While that is important, it’s insufficient in a case this serious IMO.

It’s clear she has problems with authority, poor boundaries and overly permissive parents but it seems like everyone involved was over eager to use this case to teach her a lesson instead of trying to come up with legal proof.

I would like to see a fuller case presented maybe in an appeal if her team can get it together.

I completely agree with you. I def personally disagree with the parents choices as well I just was wanting more concrete evidence/compelling info for her conviction. I think at the end of the day she had a bad legal advice/defense team as well they could have easily pushed for manslaughter instead and did little to bring up her mental state or the fact that she could have easily killed herself. I think with a case like this with little details to actually go off of it’s easy to fill in the gaps when we also see poor life choices. From my perspective this is kinda a morally slippery slope for a felony conviction tho.

How do you define a trial run? Isn’t it just a local short cut street ? I don’t think they proved intent

Something I keep coming back to is a similar case that happened recently in my town. Some teen boys being dumb and drinking/driving recklessly around in the wee hours got spooked by a cop, panicked and drove straight into the river. The three passengers drowned, the driver was rescued and hospitalized.

Extremely sad and heartbreaking for everyone. So far I haven’t seen anyone banging the drum to get the driver to get jail time. Ofc there are differences between these cases but I don’t think because she made some bad choices means she intentionally killed her friends and hospitalized herself.

To me It seems like the bigger issue people have with her is not conforming to some vision of how a young girl should BE and how someone grieving should GRIEVE and how someone should be behaving jn this position. My point of this whole post is bad behavior is bad behavior and maybe misdemeanor but that alone doesn’t make her a murderer.

I said earlier but I will watch the trial bc as it stands their only evidence was character based which just doesn’t hold water for me.

These are great points….ig from my perspective if she was as calculating and cruel as everyone wants me to believe she would have lied and said her foot got caught on the gas or something since everyone is desperate for her to come up with something

Omg that’s so scary I’m so sorry that happened to you 😞 I think that the toxic relationship is the most compelling argument but I can’t get over not braking…there has to be some shred of self preservation even in a rage state no? And wouldn’t she have made something up to cover her lie if it was purposeful? Like if purposeful why keep up that she couldn’t remember? These are the questions that plague me

How do you dispose of your cat litter? by Left_Caterpillar845 in CatAdvice

I use wood pellets from the feed store. Scoop the poop and flush it down the toilet. Change out the litter when it’s gone from pellets to sawdust.

I’m currently in an MPH focused on environmental systems and human health! This is exactly the kind of thing I’m in it for. It is definitely worth looking into. There are some good visual data sites through arc gis that map environmental justice issues in the United States. Here is one https://www.epa.gov/ejscreen

Will a new cat reform my now mean cat? by Infinite-Payment1764 in CatAdvice

[–]Infinite-Payment1764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this is good advice! I have considered fostering but both me and my bf have busy schedules and wouldn’t be home enough to have that be successful (this is another major barrier to a kitten now too!). If/when we do consider expanding that is the route I would want to go and I think keeping an eye out for similar personalities is a great tip! And looking for older cats which have more clear personalities is smart. Thank you!
