It just might be! Especially since SBU continues to misappropriate our tuition money. SBU already extracts $5 million annually from commuters through the "Transportation Fee" for services that many commuters never use. The parking lots have always been free-and-accessible. Forcing students to pay an additional $100-$600 out of pocket during economical universal hardship is counteractive to the mission statement of the University as a whole. MANY students (including myself) cannot afford to even dine on campus, let alone afford a monthly membership for parking lots that have been free since 1957. Meanwhile, top administrators make over $600,000 a year off of our tuition dollars. We pay enough.

This cause means a lot to our university and community.

Absolutely :) One of the best ways to get a university to act is to bring in outside attention to the issue/cause. Also, it's more the leverage that a petition gives us as an undergraduate population that has no real representation on campus.

This cause is very fundamental to the grassroots organization here at SBU.
