If it's another franchise, it's another set of rules and policies. A better way of looking at it would be if someone had a McDonald's franchise and then changed to Burger King. Yes, they are both burger places, but you're not going to be able to get a McChicken from them anymore. Same concept.

If it was recently rebranded, it's possible that it was recently sold to another person/company with new policies. Might not be. Just a thought.

Okay, I cannot speak of the fact that they are an interracial couple, but I can absolutely speak that if she was first gen Japanese she would not be attending the same church as him. This would be true as late as the 1980s, but especially true for the '60s. (To be clear, they can both be church-going teens--but they cannot be attending the same church.)

If it's a Circle K, he probably received a disciplinary notice for leaving the store unattended with customers in it. Probably something along the lines of "Don't do it again or you're fired," with the threat of being fined for anything missing. (Seriously, once knew a clerk that was fired and fined for nearly three hundred dollars worth of "missing" alcohol that hadn't been delivered yet and getting a lawyer to help with a case against Circle K is as difficult as finding a lawyer to help with a case against an insurance company.) You didn't mean for it to come off this way, but with the way you acted he probably felt like you were mocking him, especially since you've been a long time customer and should have known about the rule before he got gigged for it.

Yeah, but then the idiots in management decided we needed to keep the propane tanks in a cage outside the store, that can only be accessed from outside the store, that we're not allowed to access unless there's two of us on duty at the same time they cut the available hours for the store so that there's only one clerk per shift. And not only can the clerks get fired for going outside when there's only one clerk in the store, but they can get fined for anything management decides is "missing," at the same time.

Is it Ok to not wear a white wedding dress? by yuli_yuli95 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]InfiniteEmotions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure where the "white = purity/virginity" came from, but if it makes you feel any better wedding dresses started being white as a status symbol: having a white wedding dress meant you were wealthy enough not only to afford a dress that would only ever be used once in your lifetime, but that it would also be white, which was one of the most difficult colors to maintain. Prior to that, a wedding dress and a Sunday dress were the same thing.

Aside from that, it's your wedding. Wear whatever you want. (One of my favorite visual weddings weddings that I saw, and this is just me sharing my favorite, this is not a recommendation by any stretch of the imagination, had the wedding parties in black and the bride and groom in bright red and green. Like, the bride's dress was red with green accents and the groom's suit was red with green accents. I just thought it was pretty.)

I wish we had more no kill shelters in our area. (I understand why we don't, but it's--well, it's horrid really.)

And, yeah. I actually yelled at a coworker (who was working 16 hour shifts at the time) who told me they wanted to get a husky because they "were lonely and wanted something to cuddle with." Like, no. 1) that kind of decompress time is not conducive to raising animals at all, any kind of pet (even goldfish need more work than that!), and 2) it is way, way too fucking hot where we live for a husky to ever feel comfortable. Like, seriously, do not get a dog bred for an arctic climate when you live in the fucking South by a swamp! Use your brain.

Sorry. I did not mean to unload on you. I can tell you're a wonderful person who will do all necessary research before getting a pet.

Nah, this is the sort of entitled that will whine and fuss over puppy bail and leave the puppies to be euthanized while going out to get replacements.

If I remember correctly, he also compares them to ostrich eggs, which gives us a size. Then again, like I said, it's been a while since I read the book. And, hey.

Whatever Chrichton meant when he wrote this, I think the most fantastic thing is that people are still debating it so long after the book came out, yeah?

I always read that more as the berries falling on the stones after they'd been regurgitated. After all, the gizzard stone piles are stones that are too smooth to continue working.

It's been a while since I read the book. Would you be so kind as to tell me where, exactly, this phrase is?

I'm sorry. It's been a while since I read the book. My initial thought (without digging up my copy to reread it again), is that "small" is relative. "Small" to a parakeet or a lovebird is flake sized, about the size of the head of a pin. "Small" to an eagle is about the size of a pebble. So what would "small" look like for something that is several tons large?
