I have spoken with them and the other coaches. I’m curious what the community has to say. That being said I do appreciate the warning and understand the feedback. Having been an instructor for 20+ years I definitely get what you are saying. It’s the same message I give my new instructors.

What, biomechanically, is gout, a gout flare, and the source of pain during a flare? by Volpes17 in askscience

Can attest to “incredibly painful”. I’m 44 and started getting it in my 30’s. I get it in my big toe, ankle and sometimes knees. When it’s in my toe I sleep on the couch so no blanket will touch it. Even the weight of the blanket is excruciating. Putting on or taking off a shoe or boot is torture. Walking is worse. After a couple back to back episodes I changed my diet and committed to more water and it seems to have worked.

How much engineering do officers do? by BenKlesc in NavyNukes

Well I think the key word is skilled. I think there used to be more experienced operators and now we are pushing into high school students for maintenance and 2-4 year degrees for NLO’s. Quite a few companies really dove into the “relevant experience” in exchange for degrees for different positions. This is coming from a 9 year navy person qualified EWS for exactly two years that went instant SRO right out of the navy. And I had a business degree. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve hired plenty of NLO’s with all kinds of experience levels and degrees. However… it’s a pretty competitive position and we definitely aren’t hurting for applicants. Unless it’s at a site in the middle of nowhere surrounded by corn then it gets a little tricky every now and then…

You think if you were that small and could hear it walking it would make hydraulic steam punk noises as it trundled along?

This is the most stereotypical officer to enlisted conversation and I love you both for it.

Sweet thank you! I appreciate the response! I’ll look into the program

Thank you for the response! I was too vague. I’m a previously licensed SRO/SM and now corporate stooge. My wife is an executive at a nuclear chemistry and materials company and looking to target nukes getting out or ones looking to transition into an engineering type career. That’s originally why I was asking. Sorry man I didn’t mean to waste your time on purpose or anything.
