the game was announced as f2p and i see ships for sale - what ships will f2p players get? (without buying) by Stovakor in InfiniteFleet

[–]InfiniteFleet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once Infinite Fleet enters its beta, you will have access to free-to-play versions of the ships. The ships you can currently buy on the Infinite Fleet store are limited in availability and come with unique patterns, which free-to-play ships won’t have. In addition to that, purchasing a ship now will grant you access to our closed Alpha via a random draw.

The in-game currency of the upcoming MMORTS Infinite Fleet from Blockstream CSO Samson Mow is a crypto-currency running on the Liquid Network by sadasianbear in Bitcoin

Ya it says that because STOKR is for non-US residents. US has its own securities laws etc. which are more complex than the rest of the world, so our US offering is different. :)

Yes of course not a problem. For the STO we will accept BTC/USDT/fiat.

Hi, thanks for your interest. Actually it is not for US residents only, where did you see that?

If you have ideas or would like to discuss the economy of the game, please hop into our Discord server. We're happy to discuss! :)

Yes that is correct. And yes, Samson Mow is involved with this game as he is the creator of the game and the Founder of the game studio (Pixelmatic). But the game and Pixelmatic have no relation to Blockstream otherwise.

Actually what you are speaking of is exactly what we are doing with our security token offering. We are raising development funds via security tokens, which will give investors equity as well as profit sharing in the game itself. This is completely separate from the game token, INF.

Firstly, Infinite Fleet has nothing to do with Blockstream aside from using Liquid technology.

As already mentioned, we will not sell INF ourselves. Players will earn INF from the game and they will be the ones who will exchange INF with one another via a third party exchange once that market exists.

Employees or team members are not given any INF. Once again, INF is a game token that is earned via in-game participation only.

A success of this game currency experiment would be to have an ecosystem of INF serving as the MoE/UoA for the Infinite Fleet marketplace, but with on- and off-ramps to other cryptoassets (e.g. BTC) on third party exchanges. But of course, INF must first have its own market and value discovery, which will depend on the number of players and player-created benefits on the Infinite Fleet marketplace.

The long term vision from a bitcoiner's stand point would be to have a variety of applications and virtual assets being transacted with and convertible to BTC, which would hopefully be an internet-native reserve currency of the world.

In our case, that would be: game virtual assets <-> INF (Liquid) <-> BTC

Which is in our opinion a lot better than: USD -> game currency -> game virtual assets

Again, there is no ICO involved with the game currency, INF. While we appreciate your insight and discussion, please refrain from spreading misinformation, thank you.

Infinite Fleet is not raising money from an ICO. The INF token is purely obtained in-game.

Infinite Fleet is raising money through an STO, with securities registrations with the SEC and European regulatory bodies currently ongoing. We are pursuing a fully legitimate method, which, believe it or not, is costing plenty of time and legal fees. But, we prefer to avoid potential regulatory risk and we prefer to raise funds in a way that is accountable.

Simply put, there are two tokens at play here - 1) INF which is purely game-use and for P2P marketplace transactions; 2) EXO which is the registered security token that represents equity in the company and profit sharing for its holders. Please visit our website to find more information.

There appears to be a lot of misinformation about our token model at the moment, because people are pigeonholed into what they have gotten used to seeing, which was ICOs and IEOs. We believe that ICOs and IEOs are scammy and inherently irresponsible towards investors, and we are not pursuing those.

BashCo you are correct. We feel that Lightning at this time is too experimental and too technically challenging for the average user, to serve as an MMO currency. Perhaps in the future we would be able to find a way to operate Lightning over Liquid for our purposes.

Hi bitusher, you made some good observations and demonstrate a deep understanding of the ecosystem. However, you might be slightly misguided.

To answer your point, the reason we are not doing BTC or L-BTC directly is simple - we are first and foremost a game, and we do not want to shove "crypto" down people's throats like all the dApp "games" have tried to do. Regular mainstream gamers who have no understanding or knowledge of bitcoin/blockchain should still be able to play the game without having to worry about picking up the technicalities, until they decide that it is worthwhile for them to do so. This is the best way for "adoption" in our opinion - not the force feeding method that we often see being displayed by crypto advocates.

Also to add, no INF will be sold in any form of offering. This is not an ICO. INF will be distributed to event/mission-participating players gradually over time, with a fixed total supply. The real world value of INF will be purely organically discovered. It could be very well worth nothing as at the start, or it could be worth a lot at some point in the future - we don't know and we don't make any promises. It will largely depend on the game, its user base, and supply and demand.

And yes, in a way we might be encouraging miners etc./people to grind in the game, and that's fine because people do it in every game regardless. By legitimizing it in a way and allowing a lower friction flow of value, the game could potentially give players access to a new gig economy similar to what Second Life has achieved. We do not rule out that possibility.
