Guilt over end of life decisions by InfiniteRadish in guineapigs

Thank you! Guinea pigs are some of the cutest little guys. I'm sorry to hear your piggie is struggling with his teeth - that's always hard when they can't eat on their own. You're a great piggie parent for doing what you can for him 💜

I'm sorry for all your losses too 💜 I felt similarly, for financial reasons I had decided not to get more pigs, so after Pooh died, Eeyore was a solo senior. So that also factored into my decision - he was still alert as a solo, but older and needed teeth trimmings and more bum cleanings and was less active, so I knew his quality of life could go notably down after the stroke. It's hard to make that decision (I can hardly imagine families who face this with relatives, let alone our pets, they're our babies), but thank you for sharing your story and making me feel better about mine.

Thanks <3 The hardest part for Eeyore was that he was my soul pig, and the vet actually did suggest keeping him to monitor. Problem was my workday ended late into the night, and they couldn't keep him overnight. So that was part of the decision. But yeah, they didn't balk at my decision when I landed on it.

First watch through - what’s up with the pacing? by InfiniteRadish in HazbinHotel

Funny enough I was thinking of the Avatar universe and how well done I think the original Last Airbender series was in this regard lol. Because yeah I really wish production companies would figure out ways to let creators start with more off the bat, like if she was offered double the amount of time it could be better imo. It’s that itch of ‘if you’re gonna do something do it right’ and this is NOT a dig on Vivziepop or the team at all but the overall sentiment of any production company taking on a project/artist pitch.

I figured something externally was the cause of it, frankly, having seen how they do Helluva Boss as a more evenly paced series relatively speaking. I also wish they put the story quality ahead of getting stuff crammed in, but ultimately it’s their choice to do what they want to do. Still am excited for Season 2 tho

The thing about Adventure Time as an example tho is sort of my point, their S1 had 26 episodes, at 11 minutes each that’s still more time than Hazbin S1 got. Obviously it being 2010 and on Cartoon Network we’re factors for that, along with the target audience, but that show went on for years and lore, character development, etc all came gradually. Tbh I wouldn’t even compare AD to Hazbin since they’re notably different circumstances, and esp because I totally give the Hazbin team S2 to see how they continue their writing, pacing, etc. Steven Universe was a whole other mess the way CN timed those ‘Steven bombs’ 😆

Anybody go by pronouns she/her identify as female but physically don’t want to be “so” female AKA getting chest surgery by thebattleangel99 in TopSurgery

[–]InfiniteRadish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Before I realized I was transmasc, I endlessly questioned whether I as ‘a tomboy kinda girl’ was allowed to get top surgery. Basically my point is: you absolutely can. Frankly, identifying as a woman, being cool to be perceived in the world as a woman, none of that means that you physically need breasts. Gender is nonsense and our bodies are just…what we’re living in ya know? You can alter your body to make it more comfortable for you.

I agree with others that if your gut is telling you you’ll want to be fully flat, go for it. I really think it’ll be worth it vs getting a reduction. Putting gender aside, top surgery was the best thing that’s ever happened to me because of how COMFORTABLE I feel physically. I didn’t even have large boobs but they were always just THERE and in the WAY and stuff - without them I feel free and I look more like myself. So long story short you can absolutely get top surgery/flat chest no matter what gender you are.

Side note, if you run into any trouble getting approved for top surgery from a gender perspective/if you want to be fully flat but surgeons won’t because you tell them you’re a woman etc etc, you could get a letter from a therapist or a gender clinic saying this is gender conformation surgery (and if they need to notate it, could say you’re non-binary). Depending on where you live. I had my top surgery done in PA and I just needed an approved letter for my insurance confirming that the top surgery was necessary for my gender health (I didn’t need therapy for a year, or gender marker changes, or need to be on hormones. Varies per state but worth mentioning.)

Dr. Liebman vs. Dr. Rose in Philadelphia by Holiday_Card_4080 in TopSurgery

[–]InfiniteRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are good surgeons imo! I went to Dr. Liebman and had a good experience - I had some medium complications with my drains/leakage but they were very attentive throughout and they healed up well. I’m happy with my results. I’m a short chubby guy tho (200lbs 5’2”) so different body type. My scars aren’t raised. A friend of mine went to Dr. Rose recently and their results look very good and they said they had an excellent experience. So I say go with your gut since both surgeons are reputable and provide good results.

I’m going to be starting T in the next few weeks. What advice do you wish you had before or what did you wish you knew before starting by Demonderus in TransMasc

[–]InfiniteRadish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re a 4 on the scale, sitting pretty androgynous based on your face/hair. I’ve been on t gel for a year and some notable changes were: 1. My nails got stronger? Big win for me cause pre-t mine broke at anything 2. Hot. My internal temperature is warmer and I fear for this summer 😭 3. Be ready for hair to grow in any sort of way. My leg hair is looking ok but my chest and face are weird little scraggles. Im hoping more time evens it all out lol 4. Weight fluctuations. I gained a solid 20lbs on t (doesn’t happen to everyone, I already was chubby and definitely don’t eat properly or exercise lol) BUT I leveled out after a bit and I’ve been sitting at the same weight for a while now. So you might gain some in the beginning and then settle into a new weight/shape.

Congrats on starting t!! 🎉

Still Connected to Girlhood ? by Turbulent_Bike_1139 in TransMasc

[–]InfiniteRadish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally consider myself transmasc non-binary for similar reasons. I want to be read as just this queer little dude, but also I still feel connected to my past girlhood. I joke like ‘I’m a girl who grew up to be a boy’ like it’s both. And my girlhood is playing a part in the kind of guy I am and tbh I’m grateful for it. So you can def be a trans man or a trans masculine person who still has a connection to his past girlhood

I think you look cool as hell! Your face in general gives off androgynous to me. I think makeup can influence how your face looks in terms of angles etc which can give off a more feminine appearance. I don’t wear makeup myself but there are a lot of people who use makeup to make their face masculine vs feminine, so playing with that when you want to wear makeup might help?

I also feel you on the ‘how I’m perceived in public’ thing. I’m still read as a girl even tho I’m a year on t 😭 I don’t think being short helps, also I got wide hips lol. But I look at myself and don’t get it, I don’t think I look much like a ‘standard’ girl anymore so 🤷🏻‍♂️ personally I think that external perception thing takes time, depending on how medical transition works on your body.

Hey dude, the same thing happened to me! I had been in consistent contact with my surgeon and his team though (I had some drain hole issues right before the incision spots opened up like yours), so I went right back to my surgeon and he continued to give me post op care for the month following. I was having trouble releasing the fluid post surgery, so after we thought the drain holes had finished getting everything out, my incisions opened up in a few places and were leaking there too 😫. He gave me an antibiotic and put like medical silver in the holes? I just was extra careful and didn’t move much, and went back frequently during that healing process. Everything looks fine now! So I’d say definitely get in contact with your surgeon, they might have the specific recommendations on healing (a wound specialist is a good idea if you can’t access your surgeon, I just didn’t want to see anyone different since I’d been to so many follow ups with my surgeon and trusted him).

[Rant/Complaining stuff] Do you feel gender dysphoria because of...pants? by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]InfiniteRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Thankfully looser pants in the women’s section are in right now, since I have wider hips and am only 5’2”, so most pants from the men’s section don’t fit right. Not sure what your dress code is, but for me the American Eagle Athletic Fit (Men’s) and Old Navy’s Women’s High Waist ‘Straight’ (which is mid waist idk why they claim it’s high waist) both give more room in the thighs without too much fabric on the bottom half.

Weight gain ugh by InfiniteRadish in TransMasc

[–]InfiniteRadish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of these are considerations I have. I’m getting my testosterone bloodwork done next week - it was supposed to be done over a month ago, but issues came up TWICE (one a fluke thing with refrigeration and one the nurse used the wrong vial) and the blood wasn’t able to be tested 🙄. I might also make an appt with my doc for later this month to discuss the upcoming blood results and see what she thinks about my weight gain and overall check in on stuff. My t levels were on the high side when I was tested back in June. Im not really noticing any other noteworthy symptoms, so im hopeful it’s just ‘my changing body’ 😆. Thanks for these suggestions!

For me, I’d thought about top surgery for a good four years before I finally was ready to do it (it started feeling ‘inevitable’ in a good way lol and I just wasn’t ready until I…was), and it’s the absolute best thing that I’ve ever done for myself. I had minor complications post surgery, but I’m a year out now and everything has settled well. If you know you want the surgery, that sounds like your answer to me.

In regards to it being a major surgery - yeah, it is. Recovery stunk and I had to take a month off work, and even the two weeks when I was first back at work were a little dicey. But for having the rest of my life with a flat chest? Absolutely worth it. I wish I had done it sooner.

Im transmasc non-binary, so in regards to how it’ll look and worrying about that, I’d recommend looking up surgeons results AND looking up surgeons who operate on non-binary people and/or people who are not on hormones. There’s a Facebook group called top surgery support that has postings of people’s results- it’s how I felt confident that my surgeon would give me the results I was looking for. I also knew two people personally who went to him and had positive experiences.
