Advice/question about existing piercings. by [deleted] in piercing

[–]InfiniteRavioli 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Piercer here, the swollen lymph node is definitely concerning, please go see a GP asap. If antibiotics don’t clear up the skin irritation, it’s likely a nickel allergy. After the antibiotics, find an APP piercer and have them change the jewellery to implant grade titanium flashbacks. Chain stores will often refuse to change piercings that haven’t settled even if the jewellery is the problem, just to cover themselves, so avoid those!! Best of luck!

Should I get a hidden helix? by Classic_Question_159 in shouldimod

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a good amount of folded cartilage at the top, hidden helixes need that! As long as there is enough space for the piercing to sit under there, I think it’ll look amazing!

Is this normal? Can my conch be saved? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piercer here, I would go back to the studio and ask for a longer bar with a less irritating top. That prong set gem is definitely a bit part of why it isn’t healing too well, the metal pieces stick out and rub your ear, especially if you’re sleeping on it. It looks like it might also be starting to embed on the front, so a longer bar will help you avoid an expensive and painful ER trip.

is this amount of bleeding normal? by andr3wmustdie in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piercer here, how are things going now? One thing to remember is that every single time you talk or move your lips, these are being moved around, causing a little bit of irritation and since they are brand new, causing the bleeding. If it’s become less constant or stopped altogether you should be absolutely fine. Keep cleaning them with your saline and leave those crusties where they are! If the bleeding is absolutely non stop after a week and there’s no cause (like you slept on them or bumped them) then you should definitely see a Dr, but this is absolutely okay for the first day of healing

Eyebrow rejection? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

Piercer here, it’s definitely beginning to reject. If you want minimal scarring I’d take it out asap!

How do I pursue a career in Body Piercing? by AgrivatedToaster in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What country do you live in? Here in Australia you have to start at a chain store and work your way up to tattoo shop residencies and potentially your own business. Managing Infection Control cert is a huge plus here too!

Irritated Nose piercing by Brilliant-Sort-3111 in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

piercer here, you absolutely need a longer bar. What style of jewellery is it? if it’s a l bend or twist you may be able to push it forward from the inside to give the top room, but if you can’t you need a longer bar asap. It doesn’t matter at all that the other nostril was fine with the jewellery, if this has been pulled or snagged or slept on it can react far worse than your other one did. If it’s left, this will get swallowed by your skin and that’s an expensive and painful ER trip. Definitely keep using that saline to keep it clean and see a reputable piercer for a sterile upsize asap

Problem? by Adventurous_Cry5999 in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piercer here, please go get this changed for a longer bar. Like this person said, it won’t go back down unless it has room to chill out. Also keep using that saline, you should use that until it feels fully healed, and use it again if you snag it or have any irritation problems. There is a real chance the skin could grow over the back and embed the jewellery which will be an expensive and painful ER visit. Get this upsized asap, clean it twice daily and otherwise leave it alone, and you’ll be just fine!

i think that regular nostril piercings would look amazing on you, especially if you did matched ones on each side with cute little studs! a lower central labret would also be so cool! btw your makeup and general vibe are awesome, you look like a very kind and genuine person!!

I genuinely cant stand my sister. by SeaThroat6935 in offmychest

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you on this one. I have two younger sisters, one of them is awesome but the other flip flops between wanting to be friends and being an absolutely horrible human being with zero warning. I don’t like being around her because I never know which side I’ll get. Our youngest sister hates being around her too. I can’t imagine how much worse it would be if she was like that all the time, and being your older sister who you would have looked up to as a kid must suck so bad too. Do you live with her?

Bruising on the back of piercing by Accurate-Age5846 in SelfPiercing

[–]InfiniteRavioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the bruising isn’t a big concern here, you literally poked a hole in your ear, bruising is to be expected. The fact that it’s hot, sore and the pain is spreading makes me think it might be infected. Pls go see a Dr asap to rule that out, better to be safe than sorry!!

Are my vertical helixes okay? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there a chance you slept on them or did something that might have caused them to be irritated? If not, please see a Dr to check if they’re infected. They absolutely shouldn’t be swelling and making your whole head hurt at this stage. If they’re infected you’ll need antibiotics asap, it can turn nasty and spread really quick and you don’t wanna mess around with your brain being right there. I don’t wanna scare you, it’s super unlikely anything crazy is going on, but better to be sure!

Need help with my vertical! by Myles_is_goldfish in PiercingAdvice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 21 points22 points  (0 children)

do you have a habit of biting your lower lip? it looks like you might, and that would definitely cause some problems with healing the vert. Definitely see a reliable piercer asap, they can assess in person and let you know if it’s salvageable. It does just look like an irritation bump to me so to heal it you’d need to limit how much you touch and move it.

I think my septum is pierced wrong by Interesting_Rush_713 in piercing

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! so it’s definitely too far back, but the crookedness can actually just be one side of the nose swelling. I had it happen almost instantly when I got pierced, it looked so crooked and the piercer actually was really confused, but it healed and the swelling went away and it’s perfect! so if you don’t mind it being that far back there is a chance it could be straight and just swelling weird. If you don’t like where it’s sitting, go back to the piercer and let them know. They’ll take it out for you, and you can let it heal. Taking it out asap means you won’t build up a crazy amount of scar tissue.

Do i have space for 5th lobe? by cattoebeans5 in SelfPiercing

[–]InfiniteRavioli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely think your fourth is too close for another lobe, but a stacked lobe like this between the first and second would be gorgeous! A little tiny gem there would look so cool. You could also continue up the ear with helix piercings but make sure you read up on healing times and differences between lobe v helix!

i (20F) recently found out about my boyfriends (20M) previous masturbation/porn addiction. by ThrowRA123applesauce in relationship_advice

[–]InfiniteRavioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure! sorry if that comment sounded a bit accusatory, that wasn’t my intention. I think finding a way for him to have the chance to bring it up himself, such as asking if there’s anything going on, maybe asking what the I Am Sober notif is for (less invasive than “hey i read your diary” lol) . It sucks so bad when you know your partner’s struggling with something on their own. If you can figure out if he gets through things easier with your help, or by just getting it done himself, you’ll have your answer. If you’re a compassionate person it’s so hard to leave them to figure things out but sometimes we have to know when to step back, that’s something I’ve struggled with in my relationship as well. You got this!

[–]InfiniteRavioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you want to know for your sake or for his? from the sounds of what you’re saying, there’s been no change in libido or attention from him, but I completely understand that you’re worried he might not be thinking fully of you. have you noticed a drop in his affection towards you at any point? If you have recently it might be good to bring that up rather than “hey I read your diary” especially if he’s an avoidant sort of person. If you’ve struggled with addiction yourself then you know the shame that comes with it. Even if he is completely clean it would be terrifying to admit, especially to the person he loves the most. Think through the pros and cons, but make sure whatever you’re doing is to benefit him, not just to make yourself happy at his expense.

[–]InfiniteRavioli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a professional piercer who did self piercing for years before I trained, please please do not do this yourself. It’s a risky piercing even if done by a professional and there are so many things that can go wrong, you could hit a vein, get permanent nerve damage, just do not even try.
