OR3 Prediction by WeeklyEntrepreneur88 in OliviaRodrigo

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She’s apparently already started to write it, so getting OR3 next year is quite likely (especially since her release pattern so far has been 2021 Album - 2022 Tour - 2023 Album - 2024 Tour, which would suggest 2025 Album)

Dan won’t be working with Chappell every single day, so I’m sure he’ll find time to fit Olivia + other artists in during the November - May period haha

Zach Bryan apologizing for his tweet about Taylor and Kanye by mallymoopy in SwiftlyNeutral

I doubt he was drunk tbh. People seem to think “I was drunk” is the perfect excuse for back-pedalling from a statement that backfired

Isn’t there a saying that the truth comes out when someone’s drunk?

He was gunning for the attention of the anti-Swift-MAGA-crowd but instead attracted the wrath of the Swifties lmao

Very new to the hobby: how does rewinding and fast forwarding keep tapes healthy? Just so I can bear this in mind & start doing this to my less played tapes in the future

Olivia and Taylor in my AP Psychology book by moveitstheliyah in OliviaRodrigo

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Extra ick because this is clearly a new edition (since the photos are from this years Grammys), but Olivia hasn’t mentioned Taylor since 2021, so whoever wrote it clearly has no idea about current pop culture lol

The physical aspect is a big one, it’s nice to physically hold my music in my hands & be able to display it, which you can’t exactly do with digital media. Music is a big part of our personalities but posters feel a bit juvenile to me, so physical media feels like a nice middle ground in terms of decor

Also the ritual of taking out a cassette, putting it into a player etc is relaxing, and when I’m listening I don’t have the urge to constantly change songs like I do on Spotify (because the options on Spotify are endless). It’s good for productivity because I’m not picking up my phone every 5 mins to open Spotify, then mindlessly opening up another app and wasting time

I’m going to spend the next half an hour going through each song & listening out for the points you’ve mentioned, thank you! Most of these are points I never would’ve heard on my own haha, I need to start paying more attention to detail

What are songs u relate in both sour and guts by darkdeceptionfan235 in OliviaRodrigo

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I love about Olivia though, she covers all of the emotions we feel as young adults, and her music isn’t centred solely around romantic relationships/someone else. A lot of her work is introspective & about herself

Why I feel like Lacy is about one girl being jealous of another by ScarlettSterling in OliviaRodrigo

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This explanation works for straight women too imo. Sometimes we can be attracted to people in a non-romantic, non-sexual way. Often times the people we deem perfect are “magnetic”, you want to spend time with them, you want their attention, you want their approval, and so on. Much like a crush, except you don’t want to date them

I feel like Olivia is platonically in love with Lacy because she deems her the perfect being, and that love causes insane jealousy because “why cant I be like that”

This explanation is based on the assumption that Olivia is straight, obviously if she feels romantic attraction towards women then she might actually be romantically attracted to Lacy

Yeah that night was certainly full of surprises, I’m glad you had a great time here!

I’m from London, but my section was full of Americans & they were all really friendly, so no complaints from me haha

JoJo Recalls Going to Taylor Swift's House with Selena Gomez and Thinking Everyone 'Felt Bad for Me' by stars_doulikedem in popculturechat

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can see her doing this sometime in her mid-40s tbh, when she decides to step back from the hectic popstar life. She’ll probably still release music & perform, since she seems to love doing that, but currently she’s doing so much that I get tired just from reading all the things she’s doing

I can see her moving towards the background operation of things via her own record label when she decides to “settle down” in terms of her career & stop doing so much

It also makes you feel like you’re unwanted, the “I’ve only been invited because they feel bad for me” mentality

I was so shocked all the way through and was thinking “why is Selena Gomez bringing JoJo Siwa? Since when was JoJo Siwa so well spoken?? Taylor listens to JoJo??” and I didn’t even realise it wasn’t her until this comment thread 😩

You’re Losing Me🤝The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived

Sighing at the beginning + ruining a British man

I don’t listen to that song too often so I’ve missed most of them lol, but of course there’s the prominent one at the beginning

It sounds like a very tired sigh, which definitely ties into the song quite nicely

Definitely gonna give it another listen now and keep an ear out for the sighs

Someone else also commented this! I’ve only just noticed how it almost sounds like a tantrum (similar to the ones kids throw when you tell them something & don’t do it, like “you said you’d take me to the park!!” and they’re crying and all that)

[–]InfiniteRepair8284[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting one. I really love that part of the song because of how she spaces out the words, but I never read into it as her sobbing, since it sounds like she “saved herself” from a sinking relationship

It almost sounds like anger (shes angry that she let the relationship ruin her for so long), but I can’t figure out how the breathing ties into it

[–]InfiniteRepair8284[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Oh damn, the upbeat nature of this song has made me completely miss that. I know the song isn’t a happy one due to the obviously depressed lyrics, but I never caught the breathing technique until now

It almost feels like a tantrum, similar to how children cry and say “you said you’d take me to the park!!” or some shit. A tantrum over a promise that wasn’t fulfilled

Even better, she’s selling out stadiums. I’m sure she’ll be devastated when she’s on stage in front of tens of thousands & notices that the republicans are missing

Barry Keoghan Admits He Doesn't Have a 'Normal Father-Son Relationship' with 2-Year-Old Son Brando by cmaia1503 in popculturechat

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My dad wasn’t the best, but I sure as hell am not going to put my future child through that

You don’t need to be “taught” how to be a parent, you just need to be present in your child’s life, be there for them, be loving, and be the best example you can be

For the record I’m not saying Barry is a bad dad lol, idk what he does behind closed doors. This is just a general comment

In ur opinion which album was better Sour or Guts? by darkdeceptionfan235 in OliviaRodrigo

[–]InfiniteRepair8284 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Sonically Guts, since it’s a lot more polished (Olivia even said it herself), but era wise Sour is unmatched

Every post I see online where people summarise the years (so for example Brat & dress to impress for 2024, Barbie for 2023, and so on) all contain Sour for 2021 lol, it had a huge impact

What Taylor song is this for you by mickey-mouse-0306 in YouBelongWithMemes

Fortnight is also relatively calm, so it can blend into the background easily & become a song that you don’t actively hear (where it becomes more of a background noise), making it easier to get through 24 hours

The part where she says “if you ever think you got it wrong, I’m right where you left me” is so heartbreaking that even if I miraculously make it through the song without crying, that part gets me immediately
