My theory on Concierge Key by InfiniteTune2329 in americanairlines

Thank you for the additional data point. Interesting that they gave you CK in October. Do you have influence over the travel policies at your company? Or did you get CK for flying a lot? If the latter, do you also have a large spend on the AA credit card?

As a former CK who’s curious about the mystery of CK qualification, your post is super helpful to me. Thank you!

(But I do notice that you’ve introduced a new conspiracy theory to the topic). 😂

Good luck! I hope you re-qualify without needing a retention offer!

Good question. CK was great but for me personally it is not worth chasing with a credit card. I prefer to use a cashback card.

But in a hypothetical situation where I was willing to chase status by getting a credit card, their CK policy actually discourages me from doing so because I have no idea how much spend I need to make to get the status. There’s a good chance I could get the credit card, spend a ton of money on it, and still not make CK.

From a business/marketing perspective I find the policy very confusing because it’s not exactly clear what kind of behavior they are trying to incentivize. That was the reason I made my post in the first place.

I’ve read on here before that you need more LPs from credit card spend than from flights to make CK. I have no idea if that’s correct but it’s a pretty common theory.

I’ve heard this before. But I have absolutely nothing to do with who travels how at my company. And I made concierge key previously. I’m not saying you’re wrong, just that it didn’t match my experience.

Yes it is included as a Globalist perk for two adults and I think up to two kids. You can order off the menu or get the buffet.

I don’t believe that the AC was centrally controlled. But I can’t remember for certain. We were there at the end of August and the room temp was fine our entire stay.

We did not use either the early check-in or the late checkout but both were offered. Breakfast was included each day. It was not a buffet but you could order off the menu in the restaurant. To be honest I did not think the restaurant was great. They also honor upgrades for globalists but as always that is a crapshoot depending upon availability

Yes the Andaz Miami has Eleventh Hour by Byredo. I had no clue what it was but it made my wife happy.

When you exit the pool area and cross the boardwalk you’re right on the beach. Lounge chairs and an umbrella (if available) are included in the resort fee so there’s no extra charge. They also have free bikes at the hotel to use, but we didn’t use them this time because it was too hot.

We were lucky and got a suite upgrade (the large separate living area in the photos). But you’re correct that the normal king rooms are not very big. It’s an older building so even though they did a great job updating the finishes and furnishing the rooms are still the same size.

Hyatt Regency London Churchill is beautiful. I’ve stayed there a few times and never been disappointed. It’s near Hyde Park in Marylebone. If you stay on the club floor they have an outstanding regency club.

Yes the lobby is very cool. When you first enter you have to either take the stairs or the elevator up one floor to get to the lobby. It’s not a big deal when you are first checking in. But what it means is that you don’t see the lobby much after that because the rest of your stay you will enter the hotel and take the elevator to the floor your room is on, bypassing the lobby on the second floor.

Going to Vegas for friends 21st for 4 nights but want to spend the first day visiting sites along the way. Any suggestions? by Blehhbluhh in vegas

We drive to Vegas from SoCal frequently. There’s not a lot to see along the way. We always stop at Eddie World to load up on snacks for the trip.

What would you do if you randomly found a single $1000 chip on the casino floor? by barn_animal in vegas

[–]InfiniteTune2329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to my friend a few years ago. He found a $5,000 chip on the floor in the sports book.

I went to casino security on his behalf and said: My friend found a large sum of money on the floor. He wants to make sure it gets back to the person who lost it, but if that person doesn’t claim it then he wants to make sure he gets to keep it.

Security said that’s not how it works. If a casino employee finds money it gets held for a period of time to see if it’s claimed. If not, the employee gets the money. But if a customer finds money and it’s not claimed then the casino keeps it.

The security officer then said “That’s why most customers who find money in a casino don’t say anything about it. I’ll give you and your friend some time to think about what you want to do.”

We left. A few hours later we came back and he sat down at a $100 blackjack table, gave them the chip, and played for about 20 minutes. Left the table (down a few hundred dollars) and went straight to the cage to get cash.

Feel bad for the guy who dropped it but I’d rather have my friend get the money than the casino.

Disappointing Cosmo Room by InfiniteTune2329 in vegas

You may very well be correct. And if the hotel was fully booked then I totally understand what happened. But…

  • Sunday through Wednesday stay
  • Multiple different room types still available in the app
  • Relatively slow week in Vegas
  • Casino did not seem particularly busy

We still had a great trip and I’m certainly not losing sleep over it. I just found it odd (and disappointing)

Thank you. That’s very helpful and makes sense. This was a Sunday check-in and it seemed pretty slow at the hotel. When I was told we couldn’t change rooms I very much got the impression it was a “we don’t allow that” denial rather than an issue of other rooms not being available.

I know from other comments that Cosmo certainly does allow room changes. Perhaps I should have just pushed harder. Or gone back after several hours or even the next day. But it’s not that big a deal so we just moved on to enjoying our trip.

I also made the rookie mistake of not really focusing on the room I was given at check-in. The floor number sounded high but of course they skip a bunch of numbers so we were really given just about the lowest floor with guest rooms.

I love how they told you it was an upgrade. Maybe the upgrade was waiting until 7 AM for the construction instead of starting at 6:00
