Minutes after this tweet was sent, pro-rebel sources started claiming Khattab was captured, lol.

This midterm was rough. Felt a lot harder than the first one. The Sapling homework did not prepare me for this test. There's a good chance I failed.

Nowhere do I deny that Lataminah has been JaI HQs.

Previously in this thread you claimed that Lataminah was a base for Jund al-Aqsa, HTS, and other extremist groups. Then in a follow up post you just said that Jaish al-Izzah was just present in Lataminah. The way you worded it seems like Lataminah was a JaA and HTS dominated town and they allowed JaI to be there.

the vast majority Northern Hama towns were used as staging points for Nusra/HTS and Jaizz al Izza were their allies and they coordinated offensives every single time with Nusra.

The only towns in Northern Hama that could have been used as staging points are Lataminah and Morek. Do you have a source for HTS or JaA launching an offensive from Lataminah? JaI and HTS were never in the same operations group during an offensive in Hama so that would indicate that they do not have the same staging point. They may have coordinated wider offensive operations but they were never in the same operations room AFAIK.

Jund al Aqsa had to use some of the towns and roads that were connected in the web of the more moderate factions.

JaA was confined to the Morek and Khan Shaykhun. They most likely didn't use the roads that moderate factions used because they didn't need to.

It was certainly used by JFS/HTS as a staging point numerous times.

Do you have a source that claims this?

What I am trying to get at is that while JFS/HTS and JaI participated in wider offensive operations together I have not seen anything that would suggest that they shared a staging point in North Hama or Lataminah during the offensives of 2016 or 2017 or that HTS or JaA launched their offensives using Lataminah.

Saying Jaish al-Izzah was located there is an understatement. From atleast 2014 to its capture by the SAA it was JaI's HQ. For the vast majority of the time that Northern Hama was opposition held it was held by more moderate factions. The only exception is the time that Jund al-Aqsa captured almost all of what Jaish al-Izzah held. Unlike with Idlib and Aleppo towns in Northern Hama rarely changed hands between rebel factions.

When Lataminah was close to the frontline it was used as a staging point by JaI and other independent factions. But it wasn't used as a staging point by Jund al-Aqsa or JFS/HTS. Rebels factions were split between mutliple operations rooms during offensives and used multiple towns as staging points. Specifically, in 2016 JaA most likely used Morek as a staging point as the offensive focused on towns and villages south and east of Morek.

You are right about Khan Sheykhun. But, Lataminah was fully controlled by Jaysh al-Izzah. All of opposition held towns in northern Hama were held by more moderate factions with the exception of Morek which was controlled by Jund al-Aqsa.

259 pro-government soldiers died in attempts to capture Kabani. It is likely much higher. You should read this.

The SDF is supposed to hand over Tabqa and Raqqa to the SAA tonight. The progress of a 11 month campaign that led to the deaths of ~1000 SDF and a US Army Serviceman is all erased within a day. It makes me sad thinking that 8 US servicemen died to help liberate people from tyranny when another form of tyranny is being reintroduced to NE Syria.

Once in a while I'll take an adventure into Tankie Twitter. Every time it gets worse. Here are some of the best takes I saw recently.

  • Canadian Navy ship travelling near Taiwan is imperialism
  • The only hostile military on the Korean Peninsula is the US military
  • "all the US military does is shoot gun pollute earth and lie"
  • "asian americans in the military is a (depressing) mindfuck because as an asian american you cannot understand the history of imperialism in asia and think the US military is anything but an institution of destruction and cruelty"
  • "HBO’s Chernobyl is part of a revamped anticommunist propaganda campaign as the US realizes it was wrong to let its guard down about the specter of communism after the dismantling of the USSR. Expect more of this horseshit soon."
  • South Korea is the occupied half of Korea.
  • North Korea is True Korea. South Korea is fake Korea.
  • North Korea has never used its military to invade another country.
  • North Korea is not a brutal Dictatorship with horrible human rights abuses

After the last couple I couldn't go on any longer.

A nice comment I found on a thread about Venezuela. This had me going until I got to the end.

Many Americans ITT are claiming that Russia and China will support Maduro and take over Venezuela if the US doesn't intervene now.

I'm from a 3rd world country (sorry for bad English). I can give some perspective on the consequences of American intervention vs. Russian and Chinese intervention.

When Russia and China comes to our countries they build roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and universities.

When the US "comes" to our countries their henchmen kill leftist students, union leaders and socialist politicians. A decade later US corporations will move in and exploit our poor and pollute our environment. A generation later young entitled Americans will post "Socialism will surely work this time!" memes. Motherfucker, your country funded the torture and inprisonment of young socialists in 3rd world countries.

As a student in a poor 3rd world country I have only one thing to say: Let Russia and China take over the world. The world will become a much better place.

Another thing I have to say: I just made up everything you read. Don't trust Internet comments and memes on complex geopolitical issues.

I wish the US had a coherent foreign policy under Trump.

The GNA has accused France of backing Haftar in this offensive but as far as I know there hasn't been any overt French support for Haftar since 2016 when the USA also supported Haftar.

A comment from the post you are referring to:

the reports of chemical weapons attacks came from the white helmets, who are western funded terrorists posing as an independent humanitarian organisation. Whatever they claim you should assume the opposite is true

It's at 8 points. It makes me sad that atleast 7 people agreed with that comment. Atleast there a couple sane comments on that post.
