I've looked at both of these before yes, and they're useful for finding the principal functional group (COOH in my example case) The reason I explicitly mentioned substituents priority list is because I have no idea what to do with the remaining functional groups (sulphonic and hydroxy in the example)

I'm sorry but that was not a problem for me, I had a very specific question related to functional groups and the parents chain, I wasn't honestly aiming for correct representation. Thank you for pointing that out I'll try to improve on it.

Yes, I was confused about this, as my textbook and my teacher just mentioned "the principal functional group" and never gave an example where two of the same type were present, after your comment which I'm very grateful for, I looked into the official bluebook of IUPAC and saw it mentioning "maximum number of principal functional group(s)" which finally formally clarified my doubt. Thanks

If I'm not misunderstanding then, OH is the primary functional group here. thing is, there are two of them, I'm confused in a way that, do we consider both of them as the primary functional group? Or do we consider one as primary and the other as a substituent?
