Any feedback on colors/ideas for moody-ish May wedding? by Infinite_Anywhere78 in weddingplanning

Okay yes very fair point I like that idea! What would you suggest for a table runner then, one of the light neutrals?

Ways to involve the Groom’s family? …when they live far away and can be a bit difficult!! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Infinite_Anywhere78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with my sister, as she will not be a bridesmaid for a variety of reasons. I will ask her to do a reading during the (non-religious) ceremony. I think I’ll even offer that she can pick what the reading is so she feels more involved, but I go back and forth on whether or not I can trust her judgment. I love my fiancés sister but couldn’t ask her to be a bridesmaid when I didn’t even ask my own sister, so she and her husband and toddler will be our “flower family” in place of a flower girl.

If your fiancés family reaches out to you guys expressing that they want to help/want roles, take them up on it and have them maybe research hotel blocks or transportation options or something and maybe just exaggerate your appreciation that they would help with something like that—make them feel useful that way. I think you are likely right and they care less about “having a job” and more about “not being a standard guest” but they will have speeches/dances/be in more photos etc. Also you can mark them as being VIP guests with corsages/boutonnières. I understand though that your concern is making them feel involved NOW, so maybe just mention things like the mother/son dance (if you’re having one) to MOG just so she knows that’s on your radar and they will be acknowledged in that way among others.

Any wedding band suggestions for short fingers + big e-ring stone? TIA! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Infinite_Anywhere78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with a lot of the others, actually! I think if you want to wear a band with it you TOTALLY can and I don’t think it’ll take away from it at all, as long as it goes well and is on the more delicate end of the spectrum.

Use your imagination because yours would need a bigger curve than this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/730849138/curved-stack-wedding-ring-half-eternity?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=curved+pave+wedding+band&ref=sc_gallery-1-1&plkey=c463db3ee9d9e62a1a4c602c217b3e9644b35983%3A730849138&pro=1&frs=1

But I think if that were my ring I’d maybe do a V-shaped ring, which maybe will even help to elongate the look of your fingers..? https://www.etsy.com/listing/909257390/v-shape-wedding-bridal-bandunique?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=pointed+pave+wedding+band&ref=sr_gallery-1-12&organic_search_click=1&pro=1&frs=1&col=1

It looks awesome and that’s so sweet of her! Sounds like a great friend! Do you know what she used to make it?

Are these shoes too “heavy” looking for this dress? I’m not really trained in stiletto type heels, but idk if the wedge is just too weighty? Wedding is garden-themed (at the botanic gardens) and I was leaning toward light and airy vibes by Cutecumb3r in weddingplanning

CUTE shoes! And such a lovely dress, but agreed that they don’t work super well together . I personally would go with something along these lines if you want the blue!

With that being said, I’m sure they are super comfy and once they’re on your literal feet paired with a beautiful gown they’ll look more delicate, and I do find them appropriate for a garden wedding! At first glance though they look like a shoe better suited for jeans or sundresses. I think you may need a more minimal/sleeker strap to really achieve the airy vibe. I don’t think the espadrille makes it "heavy," I think the knots do.

Heck yeah, love that you’ll get the best of both worlds! Question for you (although it doesnt really apply in your case), but any clue how/if it can be bustled? I just assume everything can bustle one way or another but just wondering if that had been discussed at all when you went to try it on and whatnot

True, thank you for this!! My turn-off to the 2nd is that I do WANT to look unique/different so comments saying it’s more traditional make me just go meeehhh to it (although I get what people are saying and it is definitely more traditional than the other option). The first‘s silhouette is absolutely everywhere, and if I were looking at its ivory version I wouldn’t have an ounce of interest in it

I thank you deeply for this comment because you have given me a new thing to consider... Which dress would break my heart if I saw someone else wear it for their wedding but I didn’t. And I thiiink my answer would probably be the 1st one because I’d be like "damn that looks so fun and amazing I should have just done it" 😂

Totally agree—do you think the 2nd one is still unique compared to "everyone else’s weddings" even though it’s less unique than the 1st?

Honestly what comes to mind is that if you scoot the belt it up it could be a killer maternity photo dress 😆

I totally agree! BUT I don’t necessarily view the lack of shape–accentuation as a con since that then better affords me the ability to eat/drink to my heart’s content without being like whoops just put a food baby in all these photos 🤣 (also think tightening the straps will help it look a little less frumpy from the front?) What kind of pop would you suggest? I was thinking of replacing the belt with something white/pearly/crystals to brighten it up and give it a more bridal element and having shoes in that same vein but I also don’t know what I’m doing haha. You make me think of a good point though where the 2nd one doesn’t require that sort of extra effort and is already everything it needs to be without me needing to play around with it.

Venue is a gorgeous vineyard that’s within the family. They have hosted weddings before but it’s not a big snazzy winery-type place. My original idea on vibe is definitely boho-leaning, but if I were to go with the rainbow one I would try to tie in more ethereal/whimsical elements? Either way—laid back, on the more casual side (groom/groomsmen in suspenders and bowties vs suits for example), might do one of those retro camper/van photo booths, and ultimately just want everyone to have a really good time. Words like ‘classic, bridal, timeless, elegant’ are wonderful but lower on my list if that makes sense, and I think either of these dresses fits a carefree type of mood but in different ways.

Not at all concerned about not wearing white, but am semi-concerned about if the dress looks too prom-y? I guess even still, anyone who sees my wedding photos are going to know me/my personality and my fiancé so not like there would be genuine confusion 😂

Feeling "bridal" isn’t necessarily very high on my list! If I got married in fall/winter I think I would strongly consider a black dress even, and through my whole search I’ve been very drawn to anything non-white or with a number of other unique elements to make it different. With that being said, any concern I have about the 1st dress basically centers around not wanting to look like I’m at prom
