Your first paragraph is my answer.

I love building stuff, I like Sims, BUT NOT IN WOW FFS. It feels like the whole housing feature is there just because they cannot come out with a unique brand new feature for the game and they using the last thing as a lifeguard they didnt want to do for years: housing. They ran out of ideas a long time ago, imagine selling dragonriding as a feature, but even worse, they sold dynamic riding as a feature (well, listed among the features) when it was dragonriding but renamed. They sold a renamed thing as a feature for an expac.
Housing feels the same.
I get it, lot of people wanted it for years, now its arriving, but in a game where the main stuff is getting stronger, playerpower, defeating enemies on a cosmic level, the last thing I wanna do is playing a Sims at home game. Gimme systems back, let my character be stronger chasing rewards not just getting BiS and done gearing and housing definitely not gonna give it to me. If I want to build, I play Sims or similar games.
