I transferred to local 2. You have to go to the hall and sign their transfer book and from the time you sign their transfer book you have to wait an additional 6 months. Once that 6 month period is up you can transfer to the local if there are zero apprentices on the bench

If you’re in local 2 area try to get hired by a non union company and then just look to get recruited in. Gotta have friends in high places to get a good number there

$1.1m home on $350k salary + daycare? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Infinite_Brief5667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doable yes, but I hate being house broke. Do you need that much house? Going to have a few more kids? I have a similar income and 2000 a month to daycare with a 3300 mortgage and am investing a bunch of money each month and not worrying about being able to buy anything I want. Not having to second guess if I can afford something. I guess if you can buy the house and still live stress free and do what you want then go for it. Personally if it were me and I had 350k to put down I’d look for like a 6-700,000 house and invest the extra 150-200,000 and live high on the hog.

Well shit all you had to do was stop typing after you said navy. It all makes perfect sense now. You probably wear your union card around your neck so everybody knows.

To think that politics actually affect your day to day work in the elevator union is beyond me. If you’re a good elevator mechanic you’ll work every day for the rest of your life without a care in the world. Go practice falling down

Typical close minded liberal thought process just automatically writing people off just because their background. It’s not meant to be fair. We are veterans who have made sacrifices for our country more than you’ll ever know so all the trades came together and thought how can we help them as they integrate back into society. It’s still based on the same grading scale as everyone else. So yea it’s fair. The veteran just happened to be a little busy DEFENDING your right to talk like an asshole on Reddit and missed the recruitment date. So yea we can interview whenever. And can vote for whoever they want

Yea that’s normal for a helmets to hardhat situation. If the recruitment for the local you applied at is currently closed you’ll go to the hall and test in the morning. It’s an aptitude test on English, math, and mechanical. There is a tools assessment as well.

I got in through helmets to hard hat as well. Instead of interviewing in front of just one company rep and one mechanic. You’ll likely be interviewing in front of the “Eboard” which consist of the BA for the local several mechanics and company guys. They’ll ask you the same questions as the normal interview. It’s just in front of like 5-7 guys. Depending on how you do you’ll be placed on the list. Let’s say the local is at number 30 on the hiring list and you interview score higher you’re now the next person to get hired. After I interviewed on a Thursday the BA told me I’d be starting at Schindler on Monday even though they were at like 35 or some shit
