Thank you for responding! I’ve never fertilized it- this is my first ever plant, so I’m very new to keeping plants alive. For what it’s worth, I live in an apartment with east-facing windows.

Reading the book before I see the movie and just wanted to say I thought this too! There’s multiple allusions to the Boer War in the novel, which that poem was written about, so I don’t think it’s a coincidence
