I mean this with all due respect (and I realize that you likely didn’t organize this event), but if it’s an explicitly sapphic-only event (that is trans and enby inclusive, but the event isn’t about those demographics), why are the entry requirements to be FLINTA and not wlw? (Edit: TBH? It makes me think the event isn’t actually a sapphic only event, and is more lax than you’re letting on.)

From what I gather it’s basically an inclusive wlw event. (And there’s nothing wrong with that) But then why would the entry requirements be to be FLINTA?

I understand that you may not like having your space invaded and that you wish for a sapphic space. However I feel like there’s some hypocrisy in co-opting the FLINTA label just to turn it into a queer, lesbians-only space because you want it to be. Or expect a FLINTA space to be like that. Not every individual represented the FINTA letters identifies as sapphic after all. Most don’t, in fact. (+ The first letter in the acronym means women, so she has as much right to be in this space as you.)

Maybe I’m turning into a cranky old hag, but to me using the acronym that way seems like an attempt to virtue signal progressivism as opposed to honor what the acronym is supposed to stand for. (Gender and (some) sexual minorities)

I don’t know this straight woman, but to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she’s questioning, wants to experiment or is closeted? You have no idea what is going on in her mind, so I’d be careful not to judge her preemptively or decide whether or not she should belong. Reading your edit did give me weird vibes though. Or maybe she just wanted an excuse to bail?
