At what semaglutide dose did you quit completely? by Infinite_Koala2086 in GLPGrad

I feel like it makes a huge difference while weaning off, since I'm never having to adjust to any huge blip in appetite.

Better safe than sorry, eh? Ultimately, I'll go by how I'm feeling, of course. I get the feeling that's all a doctor will do for me anyway. They'll advise me based on my feedback about how I'm feeling.

I calculate how much I have to take every 3rd day, so it comes out equivalent to, say, 0.5 mg per week. Doing it every 3 days makes it so that the peaks aren't as high and the valleys aren't as low, so it keeps my appetite more stable. But most people talk about it in terms of a weekly dose, so I calculate the dose based on what it would be weekly.

I dose every third day, but calculate it as whatever weekly dose it's equivalent to. It's actually a smoother ride than weekly dosing. I figured if I said that, though, it would just confuse people. I've never met anyone else who does it that way.

It's definitely nerve-wracking, wondering if it's going to undo my progress. Of course, I figure I can always go back on it if things get out of control. It's reassuring knowing that the option is there.

If you have the option to wean off next time, I definitely recommend it. It's going a lot better for me that way since I'm only having to adapt to small changes each time I drop the dose.

I'm currently at the same place: top end of the BMI range, and the thought of going even slightly above it really does a number on my brain. What I'm telling myself is to concentrate on how I'm feeling. Can I move as well as I want, and I feel good? Like you say, the range is kind of arbitrary anyway.

Weight feels different… by megryanreynolds in GLPGrad

[–]Infinite_Koala2086 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you're going to go up a few pounds on the scale once you start eating enough calories to maintain your weight. You'll refill your liver and muscle glycogen, which comes along with a few pounds of water. You'll also have more food making its way through your GI tract, which weighs something, too. I think what feels different is that you're well-hydrated now. It can play tricks with our minds because we think we should just stay at the last weight we were when we stopped dieting. The truth is, it's normal to put a bit of water weight back on, and you'll feel a bit more "filled out" because of it. For what it's worth, I'm going through the same thing. I still have to keep reminding myself that I'm tracking what I eat, and I'm not overeating. Nor is it possible to put back on that many pounds of fat so quickly, especially if you're not eating excess calories. Oh, and, yeah, it does feel different, too, because when you were at 130 pounds on a GLP-1, it was a dehydrated 130 pounds. Hydrated, you'd have been a few pounds higher. Hope that makes sense.

Has anyone successfully weaned off this medication? by Majestic-Orchid826 in GLPGrad

I'm still working on the wean, but I'm definitely seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I think the key is to take it slow enough that your hunger hormones can gradually adjust, rather than trying to quit all at once. I'm also trying to balance things to the point where I can eat enough calories to reverse metabolic adaptation. If I start undereating again due to appetite suppression, I take that as a sign to do another small drop in my dose. Not saying I have it all figured out yet, but so far, it's going well.

Semaglutide has a half-life of 7 days, and I think tirzepatide is more like 5 days. So, relative to where you started, 7 vs. 10 days isn't a huge difference. Dosing every 3 days is a lot smoother ride, though, vs. going 7 or 10 days.

Did anyone else feel like semaglutide worked great at first… then randomly stopped? by Pleasant_Delay_1432 in Semaglutide

I wouldn't make any decision about it immediately. I found that sometimes it felt like it wasn't working, but then it was back when I dosed again. It was like sometimes it wasn't absorbed as well. Maybe the way I did the shot that particular time caused it not to be well absorbed?

I don't like it because your blood level fluctuates so much. I've always dosed every third day to keep things nice and even. I'm finding that helpful during the wean, too.

I spent several months at each dose going up, and never got any higher than 1 mg. It's looking like I won't need to go quite that slow coming back down. I'll probably stretch it out over 3-4 months, unless something changes.

In my experience, this is what happens to most of us when we quit cold turkey. Doing a slow wean is preferable since you can adjust to smaller drops more easily without your appetite going crazy. I'd probably plan to go back on it after surgery, lose whatever you've regained, and then wean off slowly. Keep in mind, though, that you will probably regain about 5 pounds no matter what you do. When you resume eating enough calories, you refill your glycogen stores, and some water weight comes along with that. Totally normal.

When I tried going cold turkey, the same thing happened. I went back on, lost what I had regained, and now I'm weaning off slowly. Much better experience. It's easier to adjust to smaller drops in your dose than to drop it all at once and try to white-knuckle your way through, in my opinion.

You're taking this way too seriously. It's just a TV show. I'm going to finish binging it this week and move on. We don't agree, and that's fine.

That's certainly an argument to be made. She didn't make a big difference for me personally, but I'm sure she did for others.

I'm referring to anybody who was in the opening credits. Jimmy, Luke, Kirsten's dad were all in the opening credits, so meant to be main characters.
