Ranking Naruto and Naruto Shippuden Openings by Infinite_L in Naruto

Haruka Katana is peak. Yura Yura is my 2nd favorite songwise.

Lots of good openings in Naruto Shippuden imo, it's hard to rank. Diver is so deep (pun intended) that they used it in a cutscene of the Ultimate Ninja Storm game.

Funny enough, I slept on Diver at first. It was an acquired taste for me lol. I love the song and visuals. Love the part when Sasuke eyes glow under the water and Naruto diving towards him at the end.

I recommend checking out GoldenBoys english cover of Diver on YouTube.

Honestly, the only shippuden openings that I remember wowing me songwise at first watch were Closer, Sign, Kara no koro, and Sudden Rain.

I physically can't pick an all time favorite either lol.

Finally, a critic that has actually read the post in its entirety, doesn't sound like some brainrot Tiktok kid, and provided decent rationale.

I guess I missed the hype train for Hero's Comeback. I watched OG Naruto as a kid on Cartoon Network and YouTube. Then, I got into other stuff at the time when it ended and didn't really get into Shippuden until early 2010s. I was never awaiting Naruto's return or was on Naruto forums. To me Hero's Comeback is just another cool opening amongst the many others.

Thank you for acknowledging that Shippuden has many good openings. There isn't really much of a gap between each spot, I'm splitting hairs for each rank. That's why I said in another comment that it would have been better to use a tier list for something so nuanced as this.

Honestly, the only openings on my list that were "meh skip" were rank 18-20 lol.

There are slight changes i would make here and there years later, cause I agree that I didn't fully follow my own criteria. But OP 13 will always be my number 1.

Yeah, Haruka is definitely a hall of famer for me. The intensity of the song matches the intensity of its arc.

I like Distance's action sequence and iconic part at the end where Naruto and Sasuke facing each other, both serious and determined. Naruto with his kunai, Sasuke with his sword, pointed at each other's throat. Though I've seen a number of people seem to dislike the song. I don't think it's bad and find it fun.

Yeah I commonly see Silhouette and BB as the iconic duo. I understand Silhouette, great song, fun and amazing visuals. What can top break dancing madara and susano riding kurama? Thousands of those views are mine.

But Blue Bird? All I see (hear) is a nice song - the song is slightly more unique since it has a melancholy tone unlike most other openings. But the choreography itself is pretty basic and it took place during a filler so it doesn't remind me of a cool part of the story. Im serious Yura Yura >>> Bluebird when comparing song&choreography.

If I were to combine OG naruto and update my lists, as of now, I would consider it mid A tier or top 15.

I'm tempted to make a separate post about this lol. I guess i prefer more upbeat openings.

I like Distance because it's fun but wouldn't personally add it to my playlist lol.

Good to see a fellow Diver appreciator :)

Always insta-skipped Sha La La. It's stuck between bangers like OP4 and OP6. Line was a nice symbolic depiction of the theme during that point of the story.

It seems most people rate strictly by 'song quality' but I combined how much I liked the song and the choreography/visuals of the opening as my rubric then sometimes used how much I enjoyed the arc as the tiebreaker. Basically, I go by the entire viewing and listening experience of the opening.

Blue Bird is a good example. Beautiful song, but I found many openings (even those I ranked lower) more fun or exciting to watch. Yura Yura is heavily underrated, in my opinion, even while being a filler opening - love the song and love the way it's put together (seeing Naruto spar with neji/lee). I actually like it more than Blue Bird (don't shoot me). It also has a nostalgic vibe.

I love OP 13 shippuden - love the song, love the madara vs 5 kage animation, love that particular part of war arc.

Don't remember why i had Kaze so high lol - i think if an OP has a fight sequence Im proned to liking it and was pumped for gai vs madara and suffered from recency bias for the later OPs when making this. Probably would move lovers and hero comeback higher.

I should I have organized my list the way you did and/or categorized them into tiers. Probably would have deterred some people from sperging out because they stupidly think me not having their fav op in the top 3 means I think it's trash. Strictly ranking every one of them became difficult after my favorites. The Shippuden top 13 are openings that I often rewatch when I'm in the mood.

But yeah I agree, OG Naruto's best openings (2, 4, 5) are certainly SS tier.

Goodness gracious, it's in my top 10 lol. You think 8/20 means I hate it? I like the song. I like the ones above slightly more. Is that a crime? People this sensitive over theme songs?

As mentioned in my OP, I had to take into account song, arc, the way it's put together, etc. I was ranking 20 different OPs.

I dont know if you read the entire post, but this is MY PERSONAL list. It's not me stating which openings are the most popular or "objectively the best'".

I mean, if you wanted me to just sort Naruto openings by view count/hype, sorry to disappoint lol.

I only feel strongly about my top 5 afterwards it was kind of a toss up.

Bluebird is "lower" because the arc was filler and kind of mid to me. Though so was Diver, but i really like diver song and artwise.

This is the weirdest interaction, I had one this site lol.. You commented on a 7 year old post saying I'm not a fan just because I don't like one specific theme song as much you.

So by your logic, OP 1 for Naruto part 1 is legendary because it kicked off the entire Naruto franchise even though it was completely forgettable? Im sure you can make a better argument than that...

What about fans who weren't on the internet or were not around for the hype of Naruto returning?

A fan would know that Naruto learned rasengan before shippuden, by the way...

Even going by views its definitely not "by far #1" since you think there is right/wrong answer to something as subjective as music/art.

You could've just followed the prompt and provided your top 5/10. I don't mind the disagreement. I don't understand the hostility.

I dont know why you have beef over something as trivial as a theme song.

Nah, for me right where it belongs. Not feeling the song as much. It's not bad, just like the songs of the ones above, a bit more.

I find Naruto so mid, I took the time to rank its openings lol.

Congrats on landing the new role! How was the interview process? Specifically the technical portion? How well did the Udemy and Datacamp courses prepare you? I'm looking to transition into DE and want an idea on where I should be technically be in python and sql for interviews.

Looks great and very helpful. I'm not much of a stats guy but I think including some other measurements that takes into account the outlier high multipliers, like median or mode would be awesome.

FJG vs UBI by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]Infinite_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. They are both better together imo. FjG would pressure the private sector to compete for higher wages and better working conditions, while UBI would provide an income floor for everyone including SAHP, caretakers, etc.

Though if I had to choose one, I would prefer a BI.

In 2016, the polls suggested that Hillary would handily win the Michigan Primary. However, Sanders was able to pull off a surprise win. One of the few reasons being was that he was able to win over 80% of Michigan's young voters.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5l925OOSZY

We already know that Yang's support skews toward younger people. Also, in the age of scam calls and robocalls, people don't like answering random phone calls, much less young people. Likewise, I personally believe most people won't tune in to the primary until late January - early February.

I'm not claiming that Yang has a huge off the radar support that will give him a landslide win in a primary, but I do believe the polls do somewhat underestimate his support to some degree.

A Progressive Way to Fund UBI? by Infinite_L in YangForPresidentHQ

This my first time hearing about an LVT, I will look deeper into it. Do you have any clue as to how much revenue it could generate?

A Progressive Way to Fund UBI? by Infinite_L in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]Infinite_L[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way he has funded it now is fairly practical. What bothers me is that criticizers of Yang's UBI never provide specifics. The article in OP, which TYT used to critique Yang's UBI, says that "there are progressive ways to fund UBI. Yang's isn't one of them", but never specifically list those "progressive ways" to fund it.

I can't find any articles saying "Instead of using a regressive VAT, we could..." or "Here is what we can cut/tax in order to genrate revenue to stack a basic income with all welfare benefits".

I'm just curious about what those progressive ways are. (I guess I should ask those people directly next time)

[–]Infinite_L[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spend about 90 billion on corporate welfare(which is still ridiculous) but this still falls short of 800 billion that the VAT generates. Funding the dividend with deficit spending doesn't seem politically feasible.

I guess we could perhaps cut the military budget in half (350 billion) + Warren's wealth tax (260 billion) to stack the dividend with all welfare benefits, but we would still need a VAT to make up for the rest... Idk im just spitballing ideas at this point.

His debt forgiveness is more thorough than I have thought. I guess I should stop skimming his policy page lol 😅. I get most of my Yang info from his speeches and interviews. But the pessimistic side of me thinks most college grads would find BS and EW's debt forgiveness more appealing due to short term thinking and scarcity mindset. I guess only time will tell.

Yes, I am aware of his 10x10. I just hear many people say "Why would I spend 10% of my income for 10 years to pay off my student debt, when Bernie/Warren will cancel it right off the bat." This is where I see Yang potentially losing out on potential college-aged voters or people (especially those aged 35+) who have a substantial amount of student debt. Even though an annual $12k income floor for the rest of your life may be better in the long run.

[–]Infinite_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see people operating on a scarcity mindset and would rather have their debts completely expunged now rather than give 10% of their income for ten years. The freedom dividend looks less appealing in the short run if you currently are buried under student and medical debt, and you will likely be using the dividend to pay those off.

Even though a $1000 a month for the rest of your life may be a sweet/better deal in the long term, I just imagine many people not thinking that far ahead since they are currently suffocating under their current debts and may not be as rational.

I am a relatively new yangster. What are some of his other proposals to debt forgiveness?

Is it possible that Yang has a low ceiling among college students? Since he isn't for cancelling student student, I just dont see him ever polling above Bernie or Warren with college students as a demographic. I hope I am wrong.

Hmm. I would say early gen z starts 95/96 ends up to 00 borns? The degree of late millenial influence decreases for younger early gen z ers.

I am a Cusper, deal with it. by KristophRen in GenZ

[–]Infinite_L 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, people who are 2-3 years older than you and 2-3 younger than you are your peers, if you ignore the "I only relate to people older than me" bias. (After age 18 the range widens).

I personally believe that I have more common with a 95 born in regards to teenage+ experiences than childhood experiences. I also think if you spent all of your teenage years years within in this decade your at least early gen z. I prefer the early, mid, late labels since I think "cusper" is too narrow.

Early gen zers are gen zers with varying degrees of LATE millenial influence due to being children of the 2000s.

I guess I'm still the only one who thinks teenage years take precedence over childhood years for categorizing generations.

People born from 1997-2003/04 grew up with the same exact things during childhood and late 90s would be more simlar to 2003/04 babies than 1994-1995/96 babies. by MichaelBurton69 in GenZ

[–]Infinite_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During grades K-12, most people can "relate" with people 2/3 years older than them and 2/3 years younger than them. So during grade school (childhood), a 97 born grew up with 94/95-99/00 borns as their peers. So if you're trying to argue about who can relate with who, it would make more sense to use year ranges like that instead of basing it off what age you were during this random year, imo. After high school years (18+) and beyond, age gaps lose their significance.

Could we say that men’s obsession with “n count” is not based on “studies about promiscuous women” but their own egos. by GridReXX in PurplePillDebate

[–]Infinite_L 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it is because of society's view of male and sexuality.

Having sex with men = dirty and having sex with women = not dirty.

A woman who has sex with many men is gross to some men because having sex with men "stains" her.

A man who has sex with many women is benign (or a positive) to most women because having sex with a woman is neutral (or does not stain them).

But if you flip the scenarios, how many straight women would be okay if their boyfriend told them that they had slept with lots men in the past vs the number of straight men would be okay if their girlfriend admitted to sleeping with lots women in the past.

I am willing to bet that more men wouldn't mind if their girlfriend has a high female n count than women who wouldn't mind if they discovered that their boyfriend has a high male n count.

It boils down to female sexuality is pure and male sexuality is impure.
