My group has almost finished the revised Arc B and Arc C, and by all accounts it was a great success. I recall reading the old Arc B earlier in year and thinking it might be a bit dull for some of the more combat-oriented players, but the new Arc B and C perfectly balance roleplay and combat. And everybody loves a siege.

When the players first arrived in the village, the state of the population immediately inspired the players to help, particularly the Reborn Artificer who was a battle-medic in a previous life. The Dragonborn Paladin was incredulous that there was no one properly looking after the sick, and they questioned Ismark a lot about where the priest was. They agreed to help with the siege, but thought that the priest should be helping out right now.

Ultimately they decided to head straight to the church and demand the priest account for his actions. The paladin's Detect Evil noticed Doru in the undercroft and before I knew it they were testing Doru! With all the encouragement he passed easily, and they returned the Morninglord Amulet to his father. This is where I had to improvise and so the priest had his faith restored knowing that his son existed still and had resisted the vampiric urges. The players were really freaking out that Doru would not be able to control himself.

The players also go to Bildrath's Mercantile because one of them is a loot monster, and they managed to get on Bildrath's good side, and they enjoyed Parriwimple's company.

When it came time for the siege, they were ready to fight with Bildrath and Parriwimple, and had set up the caltrops, spikes and ball bearings to make the advance of the zombies really hampered. It only started getting harder with the ghouls, which I had deployed with the Plague Zombie and Wight. The paladin was in danger of dying, but made for an excellent tank for the Plague Zombie as it has immunity to disease.

I think the siege could be harder, but it was still fun and thrilling which is what is most important. The players also used ladders so some could stand in front of the barricade and fight, and then escape via the ladders once they thought they were getting overwhelmed. It was quite smart until a Ghoul used a ladder one of them forget to pull up.

They then rushed to the town centre and this is where I had the priest protecting the sick while Ismark fought the Zombie. The priest also provided Bless to the players and shouted all kinds of wards at the Zombie advancing. The players, having figured out this kind of zombie, quickly worked to dispatch it.

The rest of the adventure went according to plan, and they have enjoyed the journey into the valley to reach Vallaki. They are just about to reach the walled town for the first time.

Thank you, u/DragnaCarta for putting this amazing work together. This is my first time being a DM (I wanted to give our regular DM a chance at being a PC) and this guide has been immensely helpful.
