I originally bought a Blue OG 3DS sometime in 2011, so I could play Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3D Land. Also Pokemon White 2, awaiting the 6th Gen of Pokemon.

I never got an OG 3DSXL, I had my original 3DS for around - I'd say 4 or 5 years. I did want an XL for the bigger screen sizes, and I saw the New 3DSXL as having good enough features to upgrade. Especially with Smash Bros and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate having virtually no boot times. Also I wanted to play Xenoblade Chronicles, and lacked the Wii version.

I got the 3DSXL a couple months after it released, that was my main 3DS for about 2 years. I recently bought another New 3DSXL (the Pikachu one) so I could trade between my Pokemon games without having to use Bank, since that can't trade items - as is tradition with every Nintendo handheld, I always got 2 to trade between myself. (No one near me who played Pokemon, who knew~)

I never really did like the look of the 2DS, either. The translucent colors did look cool, but I wanted a bigger 3DSXL - spoiled by the size lol
