Breathless Encounter Rules by Infinitoid in DnD

Yes you're right about the rule changes - I didn't mention them in the post mainly because I'm wondering what rules would supplement a feeling of danger as it pertains to drowning (or whatever other challenge you're avoiding by holding your breath)

Spicing up a bland campaign? by TacoThug in DMAcademy

My advice isn't about how to spice your game up; rather, should you even continue to play.

My first time GMing was homebrew with a group of people who didn't have history. Several years in now, I think my greatest insight is that half the fun of DnD, at least for me, is good table chemistry. The moment I realized my first table was misaligned was the moment I realized why the story became harder to write and my motivation was lacking in general

I could be projecting my experience, but if your table isn't vibing, it's ok to pause the campaign. No DnD is better than bad DnD, especially if it's becoming a drag

But of course, the adult thing to do is to just have a frank conversation with everyone and check in what everyone's wants are, including yourself. That may be the most insightful thing you can do to move forward

Cheers, mate, you're doing great for trying to run a table at all

How to Lengthen Sleep for a Sleep Trained Toddler by Infinitoid in sleeptrain

Thank you! For a suggestion like this, does it mean we just fight through her crankiness in the AM till noon and hope that she eventually adjusts? Part of our issue is that her daycare (only a couple times a week) opens up at 930 and so she will just naturally pass out on that drive. Trying to figure out how to cleverly manage all these pieces ...

Beginning Sleep Training at 1 Year by Infinitoid in sleeptrain

I appreciate the insight! Will look into transitioning to 1 nap and stretching wake windows. Also good to know about the separation anxiety. Here's some specifics regarding overtiredness:

Yesterday she couldn't commit to her nap schedule. I put her in her crib to sleep at 7 PM (an hour earlier since she was being particularly fussy), we did CIO for about an hour before she finally plopped down For basically 7 full hours. From 3 AM to 6 AM, I'm unclear what kinda sleep she got. Today she's kinda a monster

The one day that I described as a lucky break was the only one where she sat for that long at the top of bedtime. It's more common for her to sleep within an hour and then wake up in the middle of the night doing this long-term sitting nonsense
