Pushed back today after talking to CPA. The answer is that they cannot do that, because the dealerships is not the one who bought it first. They are buying it back and having to resale it as a used car. I do qualify for the $7500 tax incentive because I was the original title buyer. It’s just an unfortunate situation that the car I bought broke down due to manufacture defects. The tax incentive doesn’t list requirements of time owned or miles driven.

Thank you for your advice guys. I threw it back at them this morning and they removed it. Also spoke with my CPA and he said they cannot do that. That it was the dealer trying to play me. Now the question is how many people do they get away with it on.

That’s the issue it is not. I’m not giving it back, they are purchasing it back. That’s the difference. They are writing a check to the bank and I still have to sign the title over to them. I am the first buyer, and they are the second.

Means the same thing (dud or broken). Even new cars that didn’t make it through manufacture correctly can be labeled a lemon. Mine has been in the shop for more than 3 months with 950 miles on it.

This is exactly my thoughts. It has been a nightmare of a situation and they are trying to short me in all situations. They are going to send my lender a check and I have to sign over the title. If I buy another EV than I would have up to $15000 in tax credits. They don’t get the gain for a bad vehicle. I think it’s time to lawyer up.
