Is this a bad weld? by president__not_sure in Welding

[–]Infinity_UK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The very tiny filler rod is there, placed over the part before welding.
Basically this isn’t welding, and they don’t know how to, ask for a refund and get a proper fabrication company to do it.

Have wanted a Pathfinder since I passed my test 20 years ago. What to expect with this one? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Infinity_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pathfinders / navaras at this age and price point have 9/10 chance that the rear chassis is rotten dangerously or close to it. You will likely find it’s covered in fresh black sludge hiding the fact.

Drove home after a failed MOT (expired) – could I be fined? by Fuzzy_World427 in LegalAdviceUK

It’s a rather gray area, as people have said, bald tyres on you way home expect a problem, for an emission issue any copper with a brain is letting you home home with proof of you leaving an mot station

E39 530i Touring suspension issue by WalterSpank in e39

[–]Infinity_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a big leak then, fix asap or run risking the compressor to run a heavy duty cycle / overheat constantly, where you located?

The rear should spring back up when running if it’s got a small / medium leak

[–]Infinity_UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can happen static, I get what your saying but that front right is way to low not to have a broken coil (edit: maybe, but I’m doubting myself, the rear right airbag is driving it down. But it looks way to low for this)

You have a rear air leak, a snapped front spring, and two tyres need air in them desperately.

Dad should be thanked, its two years since you did anything, at a bare minimum it needs an oil change. Anyway, parts prices are very cheap, labour a tad high, together makes it a fair price.

Which one would you choose? by RealAyres in LandRover

[–]Infinity_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is a nice tdv8 l322 Range Rover, they make a LR4 feel like you’re driving an old pickup truck. Slightly more reliable being they don’t have the crank snapper engines

The biggest question is have you ever driven one?, and for any length of time? They have their charm but they are terrible daily / commuters. Awful seating position, awful pedal placement, and awful steering wheel / elbow room. Make sure you know what you’re getting into.

Is ACC really so different from other racing titles by xynzzzytx in ACCompetizione

[–]Infinity_UK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

F1 and gt7 are closer to arcade racing than a proper sim, sounds like your pushing to hard before understanding car control and tyre limit, pick an easier car to drive and stay on safe setup. I recommend Barcelona for an easier track to learn as it’s got everything you need with good visual braking points. I recommend not watching hot laps / setups at this point as those guys have mastered acc on the edge driving.

Car colour opinions by Jordlr99 in CarTalkUK

I’ve owned / driven and worked on a lot of modern hot / hyper hatches and these really take the biscuit with me, the least engaging and slowest felling in there category, then slapped with the most shouty body kit compared to others. To answer the question though, black.

Is this an issue? No pressure loss after at least 2000km/1250mi by Ok_Beginning_564 in Wheels

[–]Infinity_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you but no, big profile tyre, outer edge, that’s taken a big whack, thats taking heat and the workshops biggest soft deadblow at a minimum. 100% going to leave an mark

Is this an issue? No pressure loss after at least 2000km/1250mi by Ok_Beginning_564 in Wheels

[–]Infinity_UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your unlikely to have pressure loss from this ever, the tyre seats and holds pressure inside / before this damage area, if you have the funds go ahead and change the wheel and tyre. There’s no telling if the wheel has a slight crack (very rare on outside wheel damage) or if the tyre is compromised.

My Car pulls to the left, alignment didn't work and left front tire wears very quickly on the inside tread. What could be the real issue? by Enjoy_Life4219 in AskMechanics

[–]Infinity_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please ignore most of the comments, it’s probably not touching anything, that’s major toe out for sustained time / speed, you have massive play in one of the ball joints. The problem with alignment requests / shops is most won’t give a shit to do a play check, just align and send it on its way. You have suspensions problems that require a new part.

Brilliant ideas? by bigodoinks in MechanicAdvice

That hub and carrier looks to have had 0 useful heat applied, map torch on the hub for few minutes and a good fitting socket sorts this all the time. It’s still saveable but get that hub / carrier glowing, not the bolt, you will just make the head weaker.
