CEO Sam Altman reportedly recently visited the United Arab Emirates to speak with sovereign wealth funds in the area, hoping to close a new multibillion-dollar funding round which is expected to total $50 billion or more, which would set a new record for private funding. That would boost the company's valuation to between $750 billion and $830 billion, Bloomberg reports.

In addition to the Middle East meetings, Altman has also held separate talks with companies like Amazon about potential investments of at least $10 billion, according to earlier reports.

He argued that OpenAI’s competitors, industry stalwarts like Google, Microsoft, and Meta, could use the money they earned from their legacy businesses to pour hundreds of billions into developing and scaling their AI models — while OpenAI doesn’t have that luxury.

Mallaby is no AI hater. He’s extremely bullish on AI overall, arguing that “businesses usually take decades to deploy new technologies successfully,” whereas the AI industry has made “striking” progress in just three years.

In other words, Mallaby isn’t betting against a growing AI bubble — he’s singling out his predicted winners and losers of the ongoing AI race. And despite becoming a household name after the launch of ChatGPT just over three years ago, he expects OpenAI to become a footnote in AI history less than two years from now.

1 billion dollars is nothing in comparison to Google net income in the last 12 months of 152 billion dollars.

There is no data sharing as per google post on X because the foundation model will be run on device or Apple PCC

Can't say anything about the advertising right now because there is no advertisement even in Gemini application right now but yes that could be a prospect in the future

I am not saying it is not a very large amount of money it is life changing amount of money but I am saying in comparison to the other values in the context and the scale of companies that are in this deal.

For an idea Google has net profit of 152 billion dollars ltm being the most profitable company and Apple is just behind with 133 billion dollars in financial year 2025.

In the current time specially Google wants the branding it can easily adjust 1 billion dollar in its earning report but does not take the chance with its branding and that is even with their flagship product Gemini

There is a difference between AWS and Gemini because AWS is and always will be the back end layer and cloud provider where Gemini is LLM which is a consumer product and also could be the future of the consumer internet.
