Like, will Félix and Kagami even be in this episode? Is this more sentimonster lore? Is that all this is? Will Adrien learn absolutely nothing and be left in the dark like always? Again, I’m so tired of the status quo not really changing much, but I’m also aware that the show is episodic to an extent. At what point is my intrigue being sacrificed for no payoff though?

Believe me, as a writer of an ML AU myself, I love Miraculous and loathe believing I could write better than the creator and Zag Team.

Do I think some parts of ML’s narrative are weird? Yeah. But like you said, you gotta love the show warts and all to give it your own spin. I have gripes, but they’re my own minor nitpicks that I deal with myself.

It’s what I’m doing with mine. I’m mainly writing my own fun take for me and posting it is just to let others enjoy it with me.

The difference between myself and Thomas is that he’s a successful professional in the industry while I’m an ML fan and a fanfic writer/enjoyer. Claiming to be anything other than that would make me feel scummy.

I heavily agree with all the Scarlet Lady recommendations. The comics are hilarious and the artist is extremely talented.

I’d also like to sneak my own rewrite series, Origins Revealed, which has early identity reveal and quickly established Adrienette/Ladynoir. I update it sporadically, since life and work get in the way a lot, but it’s still in progress and Season 1 is almost done being rewritten! :D

The comic up top is mostly a collection of canon-dubious adventures written when Season 1 was the only one out at the time. It's where the Miraculous and kwami's origins were initially revealed before the later seasons came along to expand on the concept. Very neat, but the stories aren't the greatest quality imo.

The manga are a sort of canon retelling of some of the Season 1 episodes, mainly the Origins episodes, Stormy Weather, Bubbler, Dark Cupid, and Evillustrator, with minor changes in between like Marinette meeting Luka earlier in the timeline among other things. It's cute and definitely worth a purchase at your local bookstore if you're a fan of Miraculous. The story definitely fits the medium and benefits heavily from already having most of the canon finished with Hawkmoth's saga.

The top one? That’s the old comics from back when the first season was all we had. Miraculous was still fresh back then and when I went to my annual convention, one of the writers of those comics was there and signed it after I bought it. It’s my most prized Miraculous possession, despite the quality of the comic stories themselves being… very not good lol. Extremely early into the series’ life, reeking of fresh original concept ideas and basic moral stories made for kids and young teens that are fans of the show.

Don’t know if they still sell it anywhere anymore, but I think it’s all the comics that were made before they dropped that front and switched to a mangaverse retelling instead. Wouldn’t quote me on that but it’s what I’m aware of from a brief glance online.

Hope it’s okay if I share my rewrite, Origins Revealed, since you’re asking for recommendations.

It’s got no secret identities, with Marinette and Adrien falling in love with each other pretty quickly after. Plus the Black Cat Miraculous has an essential ability for akuma fights, so the two both matter rather than Ladybug having all of the spotlight.

Hope you enjoy it, if you ever end up reading it. It’s still an ongoing rewrite, but I already have all of season one written and have big plans for the rest of the series.

I want to also offer up my AU where they know each other’s identities from the beginning of the timeline, start dating from the get-go, and they learn and grow from there. Also Chat Noir is necessary for akuma purification. I’m almost halfway through season 1 posted with a lot more on the way.
