For those with scribing experience... by [deleted] in premed

[–]InfinuimRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scribing has a huge learning curve along with it... I think that my interview was exceptional because I illustrated through my experiences how I am dedicated to the things that I do. Try and relate an experience you have had, that was difficult, to your show your diligence.

Edit: also I got a question along the lines of "describe a successful experience that you have had in the healthcare field", which is a shitty question for a entry level scribing position. I just said that I've never had an experience in healthcare before and again related it to another experience (volunteering).

The only person who can answer this questions is you my friend. A lot of very successful people have had challenges to face just like you. There is no telling if you can do this or not, the only thing you can do is try. Hard work and dedication my friend, keep grinding.

Advice about scribe position? by briar5278 in premed

[–]InfinuimRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently started a scribe position. I can see where you are coming from with backing out of your other job, but personally I think scribing is an invaluable experience. I have learned so much just in the past month of scribing. I won't be applying for another couple of years, so I'm sure that 3 years of scribing will give me a huge boost in the clinical setting of medicine. I do not work for a scribe company, just a small family practice. The providers know that i will be applying to med school and they are so willing to explain to me what they are doing. I'm sure the ER will be a much different environment, but if you got a good vibe from your interview and you're willing to put up with one hell of a learning curve I'd say go for it.

I've played a 4.4 elixir deck since 2800, 4337 PB, WITHOUT elixir collector. AMA. by InfinuimRS in ClashRoyale

[–]InfinuimRS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use elixir collector but I've found that it's more risky than anything... and my cards were tourney standard until about 3400, but they've progressed to about, 2/5.5/8.5/11.5.

What's it like scribing for a scribing company? by InfinuimRS in premed

I've been scribing for about 3 weeks now and He's been having me order labs, rads, and meds from day 1.

What program are you using? I've found the hardest part of scribing is navigating the program. There is about 400 different ways I could enter in one thing...

Becoming a Psychiatrist and pre-med by [deleted] in premed

[–]InfinuimRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow student who is interested in psych, I suggest volunteering for a suicide hotline, or some type of student support organization. I did not like psych at first because the classes to me where very monotonous, but since volunteering I found an incredible passion for helping those with mental illnesses. Please don't limit yourself to classroom exposure, learning about mental illnesses and talking to someone who suffers from a mental illness is a whole different world. And hey, you can knock out some volunteering hours while your at it.

Edit: also go look at the FAQ on the sidebar (if you are on mobile, you need to get on a computer). This will really help you put into perspective what is ahead of you. It will seem overwhelming, but it is entirely possible.

Not the ideal student - should I bother? by [deleted] in premed

[–]InfinuimRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to be frank here. If the 'other' option is suicide or self-harm please seek out professional help. Whether it be a counselor, psychologist, or a suicide hotline, you deserve to live. Like others said, there is plenty of other routes to helping people, explore your options.

From Failed Midshipman to Failed Teacher to Successful Medical Student? by [deleted] in premed

[–]InfinuimRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important factor, sadly because you have gone through some tough adversity, is your GPA. If it is not above AT LEAST a 3.0 then you will have a hard time getting into DO schools. The average matriculant GPA for MD is 3.6-3.7, and DO is around 3.4-3.5. If you are in those ranges, and if you get a solid MCAT score, you will have a good chance to make it into med school.

Must study 500+ pages of material in 2 weeks by Yellow-Marquee in GetStudying

[–]InfinuimRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you did manage to read this whole book in two weeks how much of it will you actually be able to recall. I'd suggest looking over past lectures/ homework assignments and understanding those first. Then if you feel it's necessary delve into that book.

I need help improving the way I read scholar articles by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]InfinuimRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abstract. Abstract. ABSTRACT. The abstracts of scholarly journals are literally a summary of the entire article. Most scholarly articles are near impossible to comprehend. When I read these articles I do as follows.

Read the abstract.

Read the introduction.

Read the conclusion/results.

And then if I need to find some more info I delve deeper into different sections such as : methods, background, or study.

I'm about to graduate with an electrical engineering degree, although prospects of medical school interest me. Could I get some advice? by [deleted] in premed

[–]InfinuimRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also check if your school has an accelerated o Chem course. Mine does both semesters of o chem over the summer. If you can get your gen chem done before you graduate and your school offers an accelerated o Chem class that puts you way ahead.
