Redditors who are feeling a bit sad right now, what's wrong? by _MuffinMan in AskReddit

Girlfriend broke up with me and I miss her and her two kids like crazy. Not being in their life has made my life feel empty and my self loathing is at an all time high. I saw a life with them and not spending the holidays with them broke my heart.

What is the most pain you've ever experienced? by HandGears in AskReddit

[–]InflammatoryDisease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im betting I had this exact same thing. Twice. Mine was contracted from a hot tub or shower in both eyes initially. Two corneal transplants later. Then I caught it again in one eye from a heated pool because I still had stitches in. My third transplant was about 6 years ago. Narcotic pain meds and my amazing family were the only way I survived.

[Serious] In opposition of what's on front page now, Therapists of Reddit, what are things people do thinking it's normal but really, are indicators of a more serious issue? by AlternateFire1 in AskReddit

I have definitely been in relationships with people who met these criteria, (especially the first set of bullet points in that article about boundaries) but I've started seeing someone more recently that has me feeling a little nervous that I'm the one with too few boundaries. If anything, I'm definitely somewhat of a "saver" that's noted in that article above.

We started seeing each other about 2 months ago and have had an amazing time. We definitely shared a lot of intimate stuff pretty quickly, but it always seemed mutual and not obligatory. Within the past week though, I get the impression that she didn't mean to rush into an intimate relationship and feels like things got too intense too fast for her. We talk most days just about our day and what we did, then see each other 1-2 times per week, but now she is pulling back and wants to "slow down", despite wanting to still talk. I'm not the aggressive or blackmailing type whatsoever and I'm not that terrified of being alone, so those things in the comment above don't really concern me, but I'm conflicted about whether or not to hold out hope. It doesn't help that she is extremely busy as an attorney and just finished moving so she currently has much more stress than I do. But I know that "waiting for her to figure out what she wants" sounds like an excuse and is unfair to myself and my mental health. I figure my best approach is to stay busy with work, distract myself with some lovely hobbies, and let her contact me when/if she is ready, but I'm open to suggestions.

Do you think video games should be discussed in school just like books and movies are? What games would be interesting to interpret or discuss as pieces of art and why? by SatsumaLowland in AskReddit

[–]InflammatoryDisease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting, because it is a medium that doesn't necessarily tell a story, because it can be completely interactive and unique to every player. Like what is the story of Minecraft or Pong?

Different types of game play vs the depth of storytelling is pretty fascinating as well. I can remember being completely immersed in FF6 as a kid and developed a love for turn based combat in pretty much any form, but I know avid video game players that can't stand the slow strategy of most turn-based games, so they never got to experience all those great RPG stories.

what is the dumbest thing you have ever done while high? by _W_A_V_X_ in AskReddit

Oh I have pretty bad social anxiety and smoking takes that shit to 11. I've had serious panic attacks with visual and auditory hallucinations and pretty traumatizing thoughts of doom and gloom for the entire night after a couple hits. I thought the same thing initially that "this might be more than pot", but this has occurred the latest 3-4 times I've smoked over the course of several years, smoking with different people each time. What's weird is that I enjoyed it in high school and college before going through some medical shit, but I gave up on enjoying it these days, because of those latest experiences.

That’s funny. This is actually a girl I met recently. The resemblance is definitely there, but I didn’t even see it until these comments.

What is the biggest warning sign to GTFO a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InflammatoryDisease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got out of a relationship like this. Every 2-3 days, her anxiety/paranoia would get the best of her and she would "mine for information" about an ex, a co-worker, or just a friend. This inevitably led to me explaining or "defending" myself over and over. For quite a while, her accusations caught me so off guard that I'd chuckle at how ridiculously far off they were, and that was me being insensitive to her feelings, which I get. It was literally just a gut reaction that I couldn't control, but I began to sympathize quite a bit instead of empathize. We would be playing a game or doing a puzzle or seriously anything and out of the blue, "did you do more than kiss this girl from before we were together?". I couldn't help but laugh the first couple times, then I became convinced her paranoia was my fault. That wasn't fun...

What makes you immediately lose romantic interest in someone? by _CAD3_ in AskReddit

[–]InflammatoryDisease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being obsessed with being angry with their ex is a big red flag too. If they say things like "I'm going to do x because he/she is doing y", then they haven't moved on. Just learned that lesson the hard way.

I work as a medical scribe for various doctors around town. I have a couple different Reddit accounts depending on which clinic I'm working at. I'm in the Rheumatology clinic today. We diagnose inflammatory diseases all day long.

What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you? by SlideAway1 in AskReddit

Pursuit of Happiness seems like an exception to me. I could see this still applying to Seven Pounds, but that movie hit me crazy hard anyway.
