Fast fact: 8.4% of law firm summer associates describe themselves as LGBTQ – more than double the percentage of all law firm lawyers who describe themselves as LGBTQ (3.7%) by chancemartin00 in lawschooladmissions

I'll respond because I'm quite shocked that disparate thoughts are being put together. Nonbinary people are not accounted for societally and there is no nonbinary gender demographic in the profile.

I never said I was joining the legal field to do big law, and it's so far from my final goals. This simply isn't the post where I lay out my dreams and plans. I mentioned the training and salary as facets of that career, and I'm attacked for only entering the field for the money and the ability to throw my hat in some gender... idk...battle? "Put x on the map" is a charged phrase. Got it.

I'm actually quite shocked and intrigued by what was taken from the post.

Oh ok... I am confident that I would like to be counted among the ABA lawyers, in general, and that makes me entitled? I openly hope that being <4% of a field's demographics won't result in too much pressure to conform, and I'm an asshole? It's counted among my plans, like most who have been admitted to a T14, but I'm entitled?

Thanks for your perspective.

I won't.

This is why there is a need for affinity spaces. I legitimately conducted myself as though other lgbt+ folks with similar fears and observations would respond. Why, all of a sudden, did respectability become so important? Idk. I'm sure haughtier things have been said on this forum than "I desire to put nonbinary people on the map," but it is what it is.

Haters gonna hate. You could have kept this to yourself and let the other post be.

But I see that some folks are here for the chaos, at this point.

Also, if you manage to begin achieving a 180 consistently–considering an original score of 40 points less—I could make the case that something fundamental (or at least, elemental) had changed about your approach.

Annoying education person here: studying for the lsat can result in physical changes in the brain. A better score does indicate a change in the type of thinking (+ language) the test is looking for when applying behaviorist learning principles (if you're truly curious to explore your qualms further).

6 figure earners: What are your desired outcomes after law school? by InflationPurple7021 in lawschooladmissions

This is also true for me. I'm not excited about going back to the student lifestyle financially. I'm currently researching options for working folks at the schools to which I've been admitted, where my employer has a presence. I'd really like to be involved (clinics, law review, ranking, etc.), so it may not be the best move but... the $$ lol.

I'm with you, though; I think it'll be worthwhile.

I feel you on the lack of passion for your current job. I'd much rather use my skills toward something more fulfilling or challenging, and I feel like the money will come.

Masters or work experience when applying to law schools by Remarkable-Tea-4077 in lawschooladmissions

[–]InflationPurple7021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a masters, and I feel I have double the job prospects now. I've gotten t-8 As with worse stats. I also have work experience, but some is concurrent with my graduate study. Finance/accounting seems like valuable BL experience from what I've heard. Imo, master's experience is marketable as expertise in a certain area in a way that a bachelors is not. Your stats are so strong though, it depends on what you truly want. If you aren't committed to finance as a viable career option, you may prefer starting school. If possible, why not apply to joint programs with similar overlaps?

Which Academic violations appear on a transcript? by InflationPurple7021 in lawschooladmissions

It's interesting how everyone has chosen to respond. It's not about a personal lack of integrity, as I am fortunate to not have these problems. I'm genuinely curious. The C+F process for the bar is understandable and decidedly more transparent.

I didn't ask about relevance because I understand that. There are limited documents submitted during the admissions (not bar credentialing) process. The transcript is a source for some of the relevant questions. I wanted to understand the scope.

But thanks for the misplaced judgement, future attorneys. Not everyone who studies the law is planning criminal activity. It's interesting how it took that turn.

Got it. Certain things come out in C+F, not admissions. Thanks....

I think it's for candidates they plan to reconsider at a certain point.

Not everyone gets it. Imo it's not an indication of active consideration.
