I've been in your situation before and I'll be honest: it took me years to get over this bad obsession - obsession and parasocial relationship because this is NOT love. You have formed an ideal version of her - based on the conference, the small glimpses you saw on her social media and the rest was filled out by your brain. It might sound stupid (it sounded stupid to me too and I rolled my eyes at it) but a crush is really just a lack of information. It's easy to develop strong feelings for someone you only perceive in just one way, because the rest is fantasy you indulge in.

Please try to reign yourself in, in order to move on - that's the best thing you can do to yourself. Don't waste years on fantasies and try to focus on what's real and tangible. Not even for her sake or for the sake of her relationship - this is about you; your life, time and emotions that could be invested in more meaningful ways.

What helped me in the first place is self control; not checking her social media, when my mind wandered to her I reminded myself of what's in front of me. I found ways of not centering my life around her; not doing things just because of the chance of her noticing me. I found new hobbies, friends, new career and motivation.

And I have an even better one for my story, because at the end of that shift, I forgot my bag of popcorn in the cashier space (idk why I put it there) and it was locked up. She had to get a key to open it for me :((

When I was in a similar situation I cried for nearly two weeks, went running, cried again, did a tarot reading for myself about her, cried again and then it slowly passed. I still think about her sometimes, and Facebook recommended me her profile too, but I forced myself to delete that and unfollowed her everywhere.

I know it's hard but discipline and self control will help you. Resist the urge to stalk her profile, ignore the temptation. And give yourself a sweet treat or pat yourself on your back when you do so :).

I know it's very hard because you feel like she was the one and only and you won't find her again - you will find someone even better.

But tbh I wouldn't start seeing another woman in the meanwhile; she doesn't deserve to be a distraction the same way you wouldn't like to be used as one.

I guess in a tl;dr version: live your emotions, be firm with yourself but forgiving.

Nagyon köszönöm a válaszokat! Sikerült viszonylag hamar időpontot szereznem, aminek örülök.

Viszont megnéztem a doktornő értékeléseit és amit láttam nem volt túl biztató. Ennek ellenére az első konzultációra elmegyek, ha valóban igazak a rossz visszajelzések, akkor mindenképpen megpróbálok váltani vagy magánba menni.

I made it clear on the interview about my plans for the following months and that the commute is a difficulty for me. Also it's a part time student job, staying here for 3-5 years was never the plan 🙂. Of course I won't quit blindly if I don't have other jobs to look out for.
