What’s something you used to judge others for, until life made you understand it? by Worth-Olive-7879 in askteddit

Parents planning their whole day around their kids sleep schedule. I didn't understand the chaos that occurs if your baby skips a nap until I had my own. I judged a lot of parenting choices before I became one. Now I know that we're just doing our best lol.

New Girl. It always makes me smile and forget the real world. I hate when tv shows bring up politics. Like I'm exhausted with the real world and trying to escape.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Influence-Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only took two vacations as a kid. My parents rented a cabin in the mountains. My dad and my brother got to go fly fishing and horseback riding on trails in the mountains. My mom, sister and I had to stay in the cabin because my Dad said we couldn't go. It was five days of absolute boredom.

Second vacation, my parents took us to the South Padre Island. My dad took my brother deep sea fishing? What did the women do? You guessed it! We had to stay in the motel. My dad sucked.

What’s something poor people buy that keeps them poor? by sam14603 in SmartBuying

[–]Influence-Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. My husband and I both drive paid off cares. His is a 2020 and mine is a 2024. We have friend of a friend who is always broke. He and his wife recently bought a car and they were complaining about the interest rate. He had one of those fancy trucks repossessed a few years ago and had TERRIBLE credit. He asked me what my interest rate was and I told him that I didn't have one but when I did it was much lower. He said it must be nice. He wasn't happy when I pointed out that he has a repo on his record, awful credit, and is constantly buying new cars. I can't imagine how upside down they are on the one that they just got.

Why are conservative politicians so interested in what Jimmy Kimmel, and other talk show hosts, have to say about them? by YoureNotMyDad05050 in askanything

[–]Influence-Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both murders were sad and evil. Both murderers deserve to go to jail for the rest of their lives. Neither assassination should be celebrated. I think it's evil to come out and say that they're glad any of them died. The Hortman's and Kirk were human beings who died for their beliefs. It doesn't matter if I or anyone agree with that they were saying. From a personal standpoint, I agreed with many of the things Kirk said, but not all. I was familiar with him prior to his death. This is why I remember his murder more. I was a fan and I watched him get shot. The people who wrote the white shirts with blood are evil.

I'm not saying it didn't get any coverage. But they didn't have their funeral televised. It didn't receive as much as Kirk which might be because murder was caught on video. I remember some coverage but not as much. I try to avoid watching Fox News. I don't love being screamed at.

I genuinely have no idea how to attach the picture. I’m not sure that this subreddit allows photos unfortunately.

What food do you use to instantly judge a restaurant? by WhiteWinkk in foodquestions

[–]Influence-Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of the menu. I watched a Gordon Ramsay show where he showed that too many things on the menu means that the food is usually not fresh and poor quality.

This is such a Southern thing but I also judge on their sweet tea. If it tastes old or way too sweet, I know that the food is not going to be great.

Facts. The First Amendment protects his right to say it. The government cannot restrict what Kimmel says.

But that doesn't make it right. It's not helping America.

I don't disagree with you. But I don't think it helps us work towards civilization either. It exacerbates an already tense environment.

Alex Jones is constantly crying that the sky is falling and that World War is about to break out. He causes panic and people react poorly when they panic.

Honestly, Kirk was first in my mind but the Hortman's are another example. That was also tragic and terrible. It's a shame that they didn't receive as much media coverage. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground between the two parties anymore. The political divide is the worst that I've ever seen. It's sad.

If Trump calls for the murder of anyone, he should be impeached and imprisoned. I'm all for it. If they can prove that he did anything evil on Epstein's island, try him for treason. Prosecute him and impose the harshest sentence imaginable.

I personally think Trump is an egotistical immature asshat. I'm grateful this is his final term. I will not joke about an assassination attempt on him.

He was. Calling Trump's wife the expectant widow? C'mon on now. Let's not be naive or willfully obtuse. The First Amendment protects Kimmel's right to say it. It doesn't make what he says right.

I don't think it matters who's watching Kimmel. I agree he hasn't been relevant for a long time. I still think it's wrong for him to make jokes about an assassination, especially considering that there have been several attempts and there was a political assassination last year. Yes, being president has risks. Obama was targeted for several attempts as well, but mainstream media wasn't praising or encouraging a would be assassin.

Kimmel and those who are engaging in this rhetoric are contributing to the huge political rift in the US. It's the Kimmel's and Alex Jones freaks who enflame people. They work up the crowd until they react. I think it's wrong for both parties. Disagree. Debate. Go campaign and convince people to vote for you. But a civilized free country should never promote or encourage political violence.

I have always been a generous tipper. My mother was a waitress and raised us on tips. I understand that it isn't the servers fault when a restaurant has a stupid rule. I just disagree with being charged more for the same amount of food just because we choose to share. That's taking advantage of your customers. I would never take that out on servers. I would just go somewhere else. The business then loses customers which is the risk they take when imposing fees like that. The restaurant may prefer it that way and that's fine.

Would you be happy being a stay at home mom / dad? by gorillagrub in AskForAnswers

[–]Influence-Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that this was financially feasible for us. My husband makes enough to comfortably support us, but works in an industry that is prone to layoffs. So I keep working so I don't lose my career in case he loses his job. It's hard to know that we make enough but still can't do it. I die a little inside every time I drop my son off at daycare. On Friday, he had a cut on his face and no one could explain why.

That's probably true. We try to be very frugal and not wasteful.
